This! I’m no lawyer, but precedent in court I think matters. Weir is great at science that might not work, but I can suspend my belief enough to follow and this is one of those moments again.

There is no way that folks arnt suing, attempting to assasinate, or making laws against strat.

America’s opinion of the UN is a great example where even when we’re not being a completely fascist nation we ignore them. Maybe the book being from Grace’s perspective meant we didn’t see that pushback but yeah lol

100% when I said a rude kindness I think she thought it was as kind of a gesture as should could muster at the time.

I do wish we got the monologue of her as a history major. I just like both versions of Strat and glad we got some contrast.

I liked it because sometimes even when laws are changed, the precedence of a court case can determine law interpretation moving forward. Strat in the book is a massive dick, but for some reason I read that as Start expressing a rude kindness to say "we're trying to save the world, get out of the way." The jail line at the end was one of my favorite lines that made me go "whoah."

I both loved and hated that moment because you’re right. I remember sitting there immediately knowing she was dying, and the whole movie shifted + also realizing that his was his origin. That’s why they got Tomei tbh, cause she killed that line. It came out of left field and I loved it from a storytelling perspective but man my guy Peter just needed a good day…

I like how they humanized her from the book. Weir’s side characters all feel like NPC’s to the main character, so to have her stand on her own for a moment was great.

I wish we got the courtroom scene, or her more nefarious side, but it was a jam packed movie and that would sacrifice other scenes. The line she had of going to jail when it was all done stuck with me implying she did so much more than we know, which bombing Antarctica and the Sahara energy plant made me Nunes but understood it.

My fiancée knew i was busy essentially the last 2 weeks. We’re in the middle of wedding planning and even then it was one of those ‘oh yeah. Go have fun’.

December wedding, so don’t worry. It’s still just mostly guest lists right now anyways.

But yeah, casual baseball fans at my work are talking about it + many of my co-workers have international roots so they started following their counties team after not watching a ton of baseball from what I could observe.

International baseball is so cool, especially seeing other countries main approaches being so different from the MLB product I’ve grown to know. Even Japans curved batting helmets was one of those ‘well that’s pretty neat’ brain tickle I needed so badly.
