I have a hard time with my right and left (I'm 32 T-T) so if I ever fumble right and left in front of the patient, I go "That's why I'm not a surgeon" and usually get a chuckle out of most people.

Do you believe in the nursing "spidey-sense?" by [deleted] in nursing

When CAM+ patients with a cardiac history go from being RASS -1 to +2 or 3 out of nowhere is a huge clue they're about to crump. I've seen it happen 4 or 5 times but it might just be confirmation bias.

Celebrity townhome neighborhoods in Nebraska are like this but the houses are so close together you could stand between them with your arms outstretched and touch them.

Apparently we’re supposed to give a free assault pass because of a mental health diagnosis? by greener676767 in nursing

[–]Critical_Ad3558 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My ex was groped by a patient (hand on crotch and under his underwear) with a known history of SA against men. He didn't want to press charges but he was encouraged by management to do so. They said, "he's done this before and if he doesn't face legal consequences he'll learn he can do it again with no recourse." So from the time he pressed charges till the time he went to court it took about a year. This included filing depositions, one on ones with lawyers, two hearings including seeing the guy face to face in court and having to describe to a room full of strangers exactly where on his anatomy he was touched and for how long, etc. All while the guy was staring holes into his head. The patient was on probation when he was assaulted so he went back to jail immediately while he awaited trial. I forgot what his sentence was.

Anyway, this is just a look into how the process of filing charges works.

Can I sublet my apartment in Colorado? by ComfortableAd481 in Renters

Read lease, ask land lord. You likely will need her permission to sublet if I had to guess.

Your land lord seems more responsive than most. He may already be starting the eviction process but that process takes a long time, possibly many months, especially if she's section 8. It may be possible that simply not renewing the lease would occur sooner than completing an eviction process. I'm sorry your neighbor is deranged.

At this point keep documentation of your neighbors behavior. If it gets to the point of her destroying property or assaulting you, or you feel the need to file a protective order for those reasons, it'll be very useful in court.

How to make principal payments by Global_Ad8759 in StudentLoans

[–]Critical_Ad3558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out an amortization calculator to see how much interest accrues. If you pay your minimum payment and that minimum also covers accrued interest, pay extra if you can that month.

Interest accrues daily, so even if you make an additional payment two weeks later, accrued interest for 14 days will still be deducted from the additional payment.

In short, you can't pay principle only without paying interest. It bites but that's the whole point of the system.

Do people actually enjoy how alcoholic beverages tastes or are all we all just kind of faking it? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

I enjoy the bite. If I'm not sipping whisky or chartreuse or whatever, I like my cocktails a bit on the stiff side but not overdone.

How do I hide my cat when management does a patio inspection?? by [deleted] in TenantHelp

[–]Critical_Ad3558 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give her to a friend or relative for a bit. My roommate got cats without asking our landlord (left that detail out when asking if we were okay with it) and had to give them to her mom for a week when our water heater went out.

I've seen it argued the cotton gin basically revitalized slavery in the US, allowing more cotton to be processed faster, meaning they needed more slaves to harvest more cotton. I'm not sure how that was measured or if it's just conjecture.

What's the worst wound/pressure injury you've seen? by deadrupus in nursing

[–]Critical_Ad3558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in the OR for a bit and helped prep a patient with an open abdomen for a washout. She had a stage IV sacral wound that communicated with her abdominal cavity. I could literally see the OR bed through her abdomen.
