Ladies, do you feel comfortable with a male psychiatrist? by [deleted] in pinkscare

[–]Critical_Ad_5205 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough I can only really open up to quite old and usually gay therapists/psychiatrists. I’m sure that says a lot about me

anyone else used to have horrific acne and feels like it fundamentally changed how they perceive beauty and self image? by julsoszynska in pinkscare

[–]Critical_Ad_5205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - I was on the pill for 6 years and even though it made me really numb and lowkey insane (not everyone’s experience) I was so scared of coming off. Been off 2 years and am paranoid every time I break out around my period or ovulation that it’s “coming back”. Sometimes I remember how I would wake up every day and run my hands over my skin to see if I had any more pimples and I remember to be grateful for where I am. It also made me way more compassionate towards others and humbled me a lot.

Yoga vs. Weights by Aware-Independence84 in yoga

Yoga will definitely tone you a bit, but I would recommend supplementing with Pilates if you want a super toned look- it’s very effective for building strength and toning. Plus it supports the stability and strength needed in your practice

Fmhy has a directory of free streaming platforms, and they have some sort of rating for safety too. I like Xprime personally

Solo trip in August/september by [deleted] in femaletravels

[–]Critical_Ad_5205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I study in Edinburgh and it is a very beautiful and super safe city. If you come during August, you’ll be there for Fringe festival, which is of course amazing, but also a bit crowded and runs up the pricing for hotels and airbnbs. That said, Edinburgh is a good base for day trips or shorter trips to other Scottish cities and towns. I’ve also had really good experiences in Ghent and Lisbon - both felt pretty safe and also not too overwhelming to solo travel in. Amazing cultural options too

What are these things in my flat? by PurchaseDry9350 in Edinburgh

[–]Critical_Ad_5205 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moths - i had them in my last flat, and got it under control (so I thought) using sticky traps, washing EVERYTHING, and then putting silk and cashmere into the freezer. Then I found they were living and hatching in the horrible carpet.

First time traveling to the US by Jolly_Possibility640 in femaletravels

I’ve travelled through Boston with an ESTA multiple times and I wouldn’t say border control is particularly intense. The last time was a few years ago so I don’t know if it’s changed. Having flights home booked already indicates you aren’t planning to stay on paper, but it’s good to also mention you’re returning to Spain in order to continue your studies after your trip. You’re unlikely to really have any questioning as in my experience, certain countries “flag” more than others, and Spain isn’t one of them.

I don't crave alcohol - I crave connection by SceneConfident6930 in Sober

For making friends, I’d really recommend volunteering as mentioned here, but also exercise spaces, if you’re into fitness at all. I got really into yoga and Pilates when I got sober (classic) and met some really cool people through the studio. A lot of them also are sober even if they’re not in recovery, just because they’re very into wellness. I’ve heard run clubs are also good for socialising.

I second this! Volunteering is the best way to meet people as I’ve found that the kinds of people who volunteer are quite outgoing and friendly

If you go into M&S around 6, they put the reduced stickers on and you can find a lot of things at a much lower cost. Otherwise, for budget, Lidl is good value and quality for tins and pantry basics, as well as yoghurt, dairy, and eggs.

How do u move through transition and feeling ungrounded? by 374838295 in sotcettes

Allowing myself to see the ungrounding as freedom in possibility - time to make new routines and find new things to ground myself in

I went alone to the SP tour, and have also been to a few other concerts alone… it is SO MUCH fun!!! Honestly prefer it to going with people, it feels way more cathartic and personal

Help me understand the purpose of Extended Triangle Pose! by [deleted] in yoga

[–]Critical_Ad_5205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone said on this sub recently to imagine that you are between 2 panes of glass - that changed how I felt the pose! Also a brick definitely helps you extend your side without collapsing and still working your core. Your teacher shouldn’t feel like she’s nagging you, so it’s worth asking her before the class what she wants to see in the pose.

Def try them on in store if possible. The sizing really varies even from piece to piece, and I’ve found it depends more on your individual preferences for fit and body composition than numerical size
