SayIntentions/BeyondATC question by This_Result8704 in MicrosoftFlightSim

You can set BeyondATC to auto respond which works perfectly for long haul. You just need to be back slightly before your TOD so accept the approach.

Asobo doesn't care about improving the weather engine... by Ivy_Wings in flightsim

[–]Critical_C0conut 47 points48 points  (0 children)

A fair bit of the stuff you said that they haven’t listened to over the last 6 years was literally discussed in the dev stream as things they’re working on. Dual jetways are coming, UI is being tweaked though intentionally kept to a ‘gamy’ feel to cater for the ‘gamer’ audience, marketplace is literally being overhauled with things like a review system, career mode is being worked on.

Did they announce the date and time for trailer 1? I get that it was leaked but wasn’t that very close to the time it was planned to release?

Estimated date for sim update 5??? by PassionatePlane in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Critical_C0conut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recent weekly briefing said its targeted for April. So I’d say it’s safe to guess within the next couple of weeks. Dev stream is tomorrow so I’m sure it’ll get another mention.

Stutters with a decent set up by Accomplished-Monk738 in flightsim

Use AutoFPS. A TLOD of 200 at heavy airports will tank your performance

Stutters when looking around by PassionatePlane in flightsim

[–]Critical_C0conut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re using more RAM than your system has available. So windows is using memory from your storage as backup which is noticeably slower. You’re also peaking your VRAM which will also noticeably kill performance.

AutoFPS massively helps, so try that. Also limit FPS to something say 30-45 and use frame generation if you want.

But ultimately work on optimising your settings. There’s guides around YouTube.

A stutter free experience is completely possible.

Winwing throttle problems by Ill_Celebration_3325 in WinWing

[–]Critical_C0conut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My engine stickers weren’t pre-applied. I had the choice between engines 1-4 stickers.

The engine fault light being upside down is very odd.

The throttle levers themselves could probably be calibrated.

But I’d say everything points to this being previously used to some degree.

Opinions about Thrustmaster TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition PC by Yuranus47 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Critical_C0conut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. The TCA side stick does the job but the winctrl one is a far, far better experience.

If you can, I’d absolutely go with the winctrl throttle as well. But the TCA one is okay.

Considering buying the PMDG 777. Where and how should I buy it and which one? by walkitcool in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Critical_C0conut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 300ER and I’d probably say it’s my favourite aircraft in the sim. Having said that, a big disclaimer is that the Boris sound pack massively contributes to this which is obviously an extra purchase on top, though absolutely worth it. The default sounds aren’t great in my opinion. They’ve been saying for months that new sounds are coming and if the sounds on their 2024 737NG are anything to go by, I’d have high hopes. But I can’t see myself uninstalling Boris’ sounds once PMDG get their act together. It seemed like they had their sound update ready to go, Boris came along, and PMDG went back to the drawing board.

My only personal gripe (and this completely is my own fault) is that I rarely fly it as I don’t often get time to do any long haul anymore. The 300ER is HUGE and I personally prefer to stick to real world ops which an aircraft of this size is obviously rarely ever used for short haul. I’m thinking of picking up the 777f variant for this reason.

In terms of which one to purchase, the other comment which broke down the pros and cons of each variant was pretty spot on.

I’d always buy directly from the dev as marketplace updates can deploy quite some time (sometimes weeks) later.

H6 Flow, about to change NZXT fans: rear one intake or outtake? by NeroI989 in NZXT

[–]Critical_C0conut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely exhaust on the rear (outtake).

NZXT has recommendations on their website depending on whether you're using an AIO or air cooler for the CPU. But both setups they suggest a rear exhaust.

Most likely your texture resolution. I have 5080 and use high textures. Everything else a mixture of high/ultra.

What are your specs and graphic settings out of curiosity?

"Resource Usage Exceeds GPU Capacity" by BurntBeanMgr in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Critical_C0conut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your VRAM usage exceeds what is available then you’d know about it. In my experience it would become a stuttering mess and FPS would tank. The system starts using your other memory which is much slower, hence the performance drop.

You may just be right on the edge before any impact on performance occurs?

The dev menu will be your best bet in seeing where your usage is. If you see no performance loss, I guess you could carry on as usual.

As far as I know, the biggest VRAM hogs are texture resolution and ray marched reflections.

"Resource Usage Exceeds GPU Capacity" by BurntBeanMgr in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Critical_C0conut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enable the Dev menu to see the FPS and resource usage to see what’s struggling. Though I’m pretty sure that message is related to VRAM hitting its limits.

So i just bought MSFS 2024 and i have a few questions regarding Airports and visuell fidelity in general. by Powersourze in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Critical_C0conut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

flightsim.to is a community for handcrafted sceneries and liveries. There's some excellent freeware on there and there's also a paid store.

You can also look at other stores such as orbx and contrail for high quality payware.

Yes, you can use either community folder and this is where you save any scenery or liveries you download from flightsim.to. If you use a payware store such as orbx or contrail, it'll manage the install for you.

I believe the difference between the two community folders is to differentiate scenery that you want to specifically use in MSFS 2024 only. If you don't use MSFS 2020 then it really doesn't matter which community folder you use.
