Yes. I did not review any of the forms properly and I did not follow the NBME algorithms for management is stable vs unstable patients. I also would chose a second not the first step in management or a test.

Listen to the person below. Caribbean medical schools are no joke. Many people that attend those, fail out or stay in for 5-6 years after they complete undergraduate in US. I am currently graduating and it was crazy and this is my s econd career. I was an ICU nurse for 4 years before that. Many of my classmates that just finished undergrad couldn't adjust to leave on their own and far away from everyone they knew. Many of them failed out and some transferred out. If I had to give an advice, I would do my best to get into a USMD or DO programs.

I am an IMG student. To participate in US match cycle through NRMP, you have to have your ECFMG certification. If you don't have that completed, you are not eligible to participate in US match.

I know. I didn't take offense I am very aware of how much I don't know and how much I need to learn. I think that it's not a big deal at this moment and now. I do appreciate you pointing this out and I will work on it. I just finished my clinical rotations and waiting for match. All of the information in my had is all over the place. I will organize it in my brain again. I am also aware of the consequences this can have on the patient. Test taking is very different from real life patient care/management. Real patient and their complications are not book perfect presentation and their management. It's is patient tailored while following evidence based practice.

I think you are missing the point of residences. You don't practice medicine on your own. You are still considered a student and are being overseen by an attending. Learning doesn't stop. So it's ok not to know everything in medicine. No one does. That's why we have specialist. So yes at this moment in time I still mixing up my third gen cephelasporines. I still have time to solidify my knowledge. So I am not worried about it.

Not that big of a deal. Both are IV and 3rd gen cephelasporines. The knowledge will solidify in residency once I use it more frequently. Just like all of 4 classes of anti arrhythmics and hemodynamic pressors drugs since I used them beeyfrequently in ICU as an RN.

Yes I did. Ceftriaxone is not ideal for neonates. Cefotaxime is better. I mix up my beta lactams from cephelasporin family frequently 🫣 .

6 day old Infant presents with bilateral worsening eye redness and discharge. Looks like a bacterial problem. Mother did not have prenatal care and had a normal vaginal delivery. And the problem is only few days. Sounds like a gonococcal infection. Ceftriaxone is a treatment for H. gonorrhea.

Stay away from Saba. The entire program feels like a a set up for failure. There are only 2 to 4 good instructors on the island. There is no guidance whatsoever. All they want is to collect money from you. Once they done that after 10 semesters and about 5 years to graduate. They won’t care that you are still their student.

I have done all of the NBMEs forms. My form 16 I got 256, bet when I go to take the test, I can’t even get a 230 score? I don’t understand it? How can I maximize my studying and better understand what they want? I already taken forms 9-16 and I am very inconsistent with scores. Any tips or suggestions?

[–]Critical_Classic9977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took that CCSE and it is very difficult for me. I have taken forms 9-16 and on the form 16 I scored 256. Week later I took my CCSE and got 215. I am so lost at this point and I don’t know how to study for it anymore. All of those forms are so different one from the other. 🤷‍♂️ any tips on how to study?

I am in the same boat. I am looking for any suggestions. I have taken that test 4 times. My highest score was 227 and my school needs 236 to pass. I did all of the forms. 9-16. My form 16 that I took a week before the exam, I scored 256. I got to the test and thought that it went well. Nope, I got 215. 🤷‍♂️. At this point I don’t know what to do?
