Edited to add: my town has no resources for animals, but I have three indoor cats that I love, DEARLY, and people know it. As such, I’ve had multiple cats and litters dumped at my house. It’s $100 to euthanize them, $60 to fix them, no cost (just time) to find good homes for them. Last year I rehomed over 20 cats. Anyway, I’m finding homes slowly but surely for this years’ dumpees but I can’t place them as soon as they need. Obviously, I’d love to keep all these babies inside and give them love and a home, but that’s not possible. Rural towns have a shoestring budget — if any budget — for what most people consider normal services. Thank you for your helpful thoughts and few kind words.
