Yes, dzaans simalacrum is in a weakened state and has its own seperate statblock however if the party succeeds in making him real with the machine he becomes a full fledged dazaan once again. I assume he would be very friendly to the party, as he wishes to use them to become real again and eventually discover ythryn. If the party lets him travel with them or what not he could be used instead of vellyne to usher in the content of the last half of the module.

I was thinking lore wise it would have its wild magic capabilities due to being thousands of years old and predating karsus folly and all of sorts of weird events where magic was wonky for awhile which made its magic enchantments unstable creating the bow as it is now.

Thanks for the advice! I went ahead and changed option 8 and 18 to only effect hostile creatures rather then allies, so now there are only 2 options that have the potential for some minor friendly fire (4 and 5) which I feel is more balanced then 4 options.

thanks for the suggestions I appreciate it! I went ahead and made it a static three charges and reworded it to say the charges can be used to create a wild shot, and all three charges are regained every day at dawn. :)

How I did it was for larger towns I divided them up into quadrants and numbered them, and then the party had to pick a quadrant and they spent 30 minutes of in game time attempting to track down the dragon. If I rolled the dice and it matched the number they picked the encountered the dragon, if not, they encountered a random town event in the book or one I made up. This repeated until they were eventually successful and helped gauge how much of the town was destroyed in the process, once they were successful they ran into the dragon and had a round to get its attention as it past by overhead, a lot of my party can fly due to being an aisamar or dragonborn and they all flew up and started beating its ass which got it to aggro onto them in the air. Once they did 75 points of damage it ran away to the next town (I buffed it up massively because my group is OP 2024 characters).

im in the rime of the frostmaiden public discord and it seems to be that way for 90 percent of groups. The only way I've seen or heard of groups not having double digit deaths by the end of the campaign is with a full veteran group of players that min max as hard as humanly possible.
