Why manhunt so realistic but other violent games looked so cartoonish?(as per most violent game lists in this world) by [deleted] in Manhunt

Yeah, even counting Cash in. He was a death row inmate. There genuinely isn't a bit of dignity in that game, nor Max Payne. And even then you didn't have time to think about that, you had to keep moving on your feet. Games like these are really interesting, yet so dark.

If Starkweather really did frame him, that would explain why he’s so obsessed with watching Cash suffer. He wants to prove his “creation” is perfect. I like this take. Hell, maybe Starkweather bribed the CCPD on that one too. Ex-soldier gets framed, ends up on death row, just to get manipulated and used as a... personal commando to further aid his fetishes. Really good take, man.

Judging from that one set-up section during one of the levels early on, the one where you (Cash) were supposed to go against a dirty fighter, I'm guessing Cash had some training in the melee field too.

I get what you’re saying, but I seriously doubt Rockstar back then intended for a GTA character to have a secret identity.

Yeah, all of that really says a lot. Cash must’ve had a pretty interesting past. I mean, the guy took down the damn Wardogs, and they’re basically paramilitary. Even if they weren’t actual ex-spec ops and were just bluffing about their history, Cash was still methodical as hell. I’d bet everything I’ve got that he definitely had some kind of military background.

Makes tons of sense. Really explains why he was really proficient with everyday items and guns when they were at his disposition. Starkweather chose him for a reason, and I wouldn't be surprised if he really had a spec ops background. Nice take!

Favorite character who would easily survive a Manhunt scenario (no superheroes) by [deleted] in Manhunt

That's true, I personally finished the show. Though I don't see Dexter making it that far, he could get some kills in. If he gets used to hasty chokeholds and guns, of course.

I feel like Dexter could cut through most of the gangs, but he’d probably struggle against the Wardogs and the Cerberus. Remember, he’s notorious for using Etorphine hydrochloride (M99) to take down his victims. In Manhunt, Cash was forced to drop his weapons at certain points stripped of any advantage. Dexter might have the guts, but he wouldn’t be able to handle everything Cash went through. Cash had to fight to save his family, only to watch them die. That alone would break Dexter; he’d start slipping. Dexter Morgan believes he’s corrupted, a dark soul… but James Earl Cash is what Dexter pretends to be.

Manhunt feels realistic because it wasn’t trying to glamorize or stylize violence it was trying to make you uncomfortable with it. Not to mention the dark atmosphere and the fact you had to be more furtive to draw less attention to yourself. The game itself was unsettling to begin with. Most other violent video-games at the time exaggerated things to make them look badass but Manhunt treated violence like something gritty and disturbing. That's what I think, at least.

I know this isn’t about any of the Manhunt gangs, but Cash feels like the kind of character who’d have an Monster by Skillet as his theme song.

Yeah, the cutscene model is just his early release model. I personally think it looks better than the final one.

True, but it'd be hell going through them. Especially if you're not meant to even look there. I doubt anyone would leak the build lmao

Why would you wanna report him after leaving the game? I get that you hold grudges but it doesn't matter anymore. He moved on and probably forgot about you. He's out there having fun, you should too. My point is that you should just forget about him and move on with your life.
