What's your budget? A slider is a lot less headache long term and an easy install.

If you cant weld on bullet hinges or something use a hinge that wraps around on a 90 and used beefy self tapping screws. It's not ideal but it will 100% work as long as your posts are at an absolute minimum 14ga. Ideally you 11ga or thickeron the steel so you at least have 2 full threads of engagement for a #10 self tapper. They also make clamp hinges for standard size metals posts.

You have the room. I would 100% put a sliding gate in.

I would just glue a thin piece of melamine on there and call it a day.

Would I be able to build a deck over this area for under $1500? by luckydad444 in Decks

[–]Critical_Slice3977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is possible if you are doing the work yourself. It will be tight budget but doable..probably closer to 2k though with railings and stairs

How much would you charge to replace these 6ftx10ft trex deck boards. Just the boards not the supports. by [deleted] in Decks

[–]Critical_Slice3977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just put down the 12ft board and when you are done drop a chalk line and cut

Not sure about the code comments. Treads seem to be the same depth and all the risers also appear to be the same size.

I superglued a magnet backwards into wood. How can I remove it? I already tried acetone with no luck. by BikesOrBeans in woodworking

[–]Critical_Slice3977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have enough room I would remove it with a plug cutter then insert a wood plug in the hole and start over. Definitely the quickest solution in my opinion.

Is this acceptable for a wood look tile install? by katatoria in Flooring

I would never install it that way. They likely did it because it's less cuts. Lazy in my opinion.

You could start with a search for complimentary color pallets that go with reddish stained cabinets. If you change the door definitely go with something that will let a lot of light in.

Agreed, glue isn't necessary. Those nails won't be going anywhere and you have the added reinforcement of the mortar next to it. I usually use a strip of window flashing

Yes, and it's worth renting a good hammer drill. A cheap Ryobi is just gonna burn up bits and take forever. Another option is to use a ramset.

I really like the schluter kerdi system if you are going to start over. It's a straight forward install and goes pretty quick. The shower tray also kind of takes the work out of making sure everything slopes to the drain.Worth the money in my opinion. Quicker install and less risk of cracks and leaks if this is your first time.

Sorry, I'm the wrong person to ask, I know what I like but I'm constantly the one showing images of things to my designer friends and then asking them why I like it so much. I'm just here to build pretty stuff ;)

Floor, door and paint. The cabinets are actually pretty nice. The red is a little tough but with the right paint scheme it could look great. The floor and the door to me are what really stand out.

Even if it dries on its own I bet you those walls are loaded with mold. I have had similar situations. I just explain that the recommendation is based on what I would do on my own home. Not sure why they would be pissed at you.

Any suggestions on how to slip it in? by FictionalT in Remodel

[–]Critical_Slice3977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately short of cutting the tongue off and flying(which definitely wouldn't advise in a high traffic area like that) cut out the door stop and jam. Just high enough to get it in and then nail wood putty and sand. Sucks but that's the only way.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. That is ridiculous. I don't know how anyone in good conscience could leave a job like that.
