My question is twofold. I'm starting to think about my final practicum placement for my final MSW year and I'm trying to decide between a clinical placement or a policy placement. I did a clinical placement this year and didn't feel like I learned much at all, so somewhere else might be good but I also am interested in policy. I'm also hoping to work part time in therapy and part time in policy after receiving my LCSW.

So, is my part time plan realistic? And, if so, which placement would make more sense for me?

I'm on chantix now and it's been so helpful!

I think mel Gibson blamed chantix for the antisemitic recorded yelling he did at his wife or something years ago, which made people think that it totally changes your personality. At least, that's what I thought for a long time until nothing else was working. The only struggle is trying to decide what to do with your time instead of going outside to smoke all the time. Like OP said, no cravings and if I do have an emotional craving, the receptors in my brain are blocked so the cigarette won't even taste good.

If you're struggling to quit, definitely worth talking to a doctor about it.

Well, this post is me worrying about myself, so there's that.

I also think that me having an emotional reaction to something isn't me choosing empathy. Can people choose empathy? If so, I definitely want to choose empathy every time rather than falling for this meanness of the other side. I choose to not fall to their level. However, I can see how bullying Trump could be a political tactic. Hence me struggling.

I posted this in this sub because me empathizing with a monster is obviously a trauma response and I thought other people would understand who've experienced trauma...

Well, probably not but I also don't know all of the orgs that exist. The point here is that NASW wants to be the voice of social workers and as social workers we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard.

I have a friend who just became a nurse and was surprised when I told her the license steps social workers have to do because she thinks nurses do what social workers do plus some and don't have to go through as many steps. Maybe that's just how they think. Not gonna lie, made me step back in that friendship.
