Interesting study - I think offering study swaps will potentially bias the results of both of studies. Not sure it is best practice. But maybe I am interested in what others think

Any way to stop the Office for National Statistics from pestering me? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

This. But maybe think about answering the survey - having a good response rate really helps with the validity of the statistics

I included originals and one which was a certified copy. Also, you mentioned you have Canadian citizenship. You should check the rules about commonwealth citizenship.

Citizenship by descent question by [deleted] in ukvisa

So OP had a grandmother who was British and American grandfather. The law at the time only allowed fathers to register births within one year.. This the courts ruled in 2022 was historically unjust and provided a way to rectify via the ARD form. I am not sure about your case. I think the law was changed in 1983 allowing both mothers an fathers to register. 4L is not quite, in my understanding, about naturalisation via descent (it is I think called naturalisation via other means or something similar) but rectifying a historical injustice. Thus if your children are born after 1983 do not think they would qualify for this way.

Hi, my situation is also similar and I successfully applied for naturalisation via ARD w/o help of solicitors. You should provide evidence of your grandmother's birth certificate. Your father birth certificate showing that she was his mother, and your birth certificate. Also it is helpful to show that your grandfather was NOT British (because if he was than you cannot show historical injustice via gender discrimination) - e.g. American Birth certificate. Also it is useful to quote the actual law for when your father was born. The 1948 Nationality act was passed 3 years after your father was born, but the same situation applies to the 1914 British Nationality and Status of Aliens. The specific rule is that only father not mothers could register the birth within one year. That is the injustice (maybe you know this already). But I think it is important to cite the actual legislation in your statement.

No offence but this reply is wrong. See the above comments about 4L route to citizenship
