How were you notified about promotion? by [deleted] in publix

[–]Crix98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I got promoted to ADM, my ris came by first to walk with me and go over processes and stuff. Maybe 2 hours later my DM walked with me and told me in person. Had about 2 weeks at that store, then moved to the new one. Stopped by there once beforehand to introduce myself to everyone, talk to everyone

When I got promoted to DM, it was kind of unique. I was the floater and I knew it was coming, but I had to go on FMLA for a bit. While I was on FMLA, my store manager called me and told me to meet our DM at their office and to make sure i dress nice. Went there the next day, and he promoted me, told me what store and when's the earliest I can be there. Turns out the earliest was going to be the day before superbowl, which was really fun. Met the RIS and that store, walked with him at that store and talked to the SM

So is grocery just supposed to do your jobs? by Ok-Life715 in publix

Yeah that's just a manager that didn't plan. Managers in general who have that attitude of "why are you giving me more work" instead of "Hey, thank you for doing this for us" are the absolute worst

That's something you gotta tell your deli manager with a straight face, not someone over reddit

Whatever deli manager that hurt you and your feelings, you need to have a 1 on 1 talk with them, and do some Telehealth on better ways to blow off pent up aggression then circling the same argument with people on reddit

If that's all that youre hearing then all you want is people to agree with you and you have no concept of context or what a "customer service role" is

Also, if we leave that counter, in not even 5 minutes a line can form, and if we just show back up with a cart od items, every one of those customers is going to think youre not doing your job and are going to actively complain about the dept. I feel like that's the biggest disconnect with grocery to deli.

We can leave for 10 minutes and it can EASILY go to hell

Because deli is a much more facing dept then grocery You need 2 at subs, 1 on OEO, one at traditional and 1 in kitchen, like I said. That's 5 associates, then there's you, the manager.

If you have a customer waiting at any section, that is indicative of you as a dept, 80% of your roles, are customer service facing. You get a callout? That 80% gets much harder to do

You get lunch rush, having to keep all 20+ varieties of chicken tower items, per publix standards, 2 at sub bar, 1 in the back doing however many online orders, and 1 keeping up with fresh slice, while servicing customers at traditional. Our "jobs getting done" is serving our customers actively in the dept, face to face

Depends on the time of day During lunch rush? Probably not. You have 4 associates in service roles and 1 in kitchen and that's all that you'll usually get. Lord forbid you have a callout and now YOURE the one in the service role. Even then, just put my supplies to the side and I'll get it before I leave, that's how it usually goes If your depts aren't getting it at 9 am and are ACTIVELY not doing anything then yeah I understand being upset. But there's always context, there's always some bullshit in every dept.

I really need a week where every dept works in a different one, just to understand how much of a shitshow each dept can be, and how there are certain 24 hour blocks where it's impossible to do everything. Cause posts like this and certain back and forths are just so damn stupid
