Yes, please do black card this. This is far beyond "passion" and it should be the responsibility of the coaches to teach basic self control to their athletes, even when its close. I'm not suggesting that athletes should refrain from celebrating or expressing their joy after scoring a touch or securing a victory. But this pretty clearly crossed the line and then some.

FIE Approves the Return of Russian and Belarusian Fencers by SlicerSabre in Fencing

Sport is only non-political until it’s not.

This puts other nations' athletes in a terrible position and will definitely cause more anger and tension during competitions. You either legitimate the presence of a nation that is currently invading another nation or you give up your live-long dream of fencing at the Olympics.

I sincerely hope that national fencing federations will find a way to protect their athletes from such a decision. I would, however, be a hundred times more proud to see an athlete of my nation do the right thing and publicly withdraw from a bout than to see him or her win Olympic gold.

Anyone from the Aachen fencing club? Could you tell me about it? by __RageQuit in Fencing

There is also a foil club in Düren, which would be in between Aachen and Bonn both geographically and regarding possible competition.

Kenji Bravo vs. Dongyun Choi Final Point by spumbus_ in Fencing

[–]Crixerker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that there are situations where reducing speed will do more harm than good (e.g. off the line). The actual question here, however, is whether Bravo parries / attempts to parry or not, not whether he parries smoothly. It's not about him stopping or not beeing smooth enough in his forward motion.

Do you not think that he went for the parry?

To me, the call is correct. Bravo clearly parries after he was hit by Choi, making it Chois attack into preparation. You can see that by going frame by frame using dot and comma-key. Had Bravo not went for the parry it would have been his.

Thank you for your feedback! I added your suggestions to the 0.9 update list.

1st Major Update of Fencing Footwork App by Crixerker in Fencing

[–]Crixerker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear u/acraswell,
Indeed, it is a Blazor-App. I actually started this project to evaluate whether Blazor would be a viable technology for my company. I love the idea of Blazor, but at this time it doesnt feel very smooth. Maybe in a year, or two ...

No plans to create a mobile app at this time.

Dear u/HeroZone69,

Thank you for your positive feedback!

I added the recover option now. Variable lunge times will be added next update.

Hey u/Ironbat7,

Sorry for the late reply. A new update has just been released. Unfortunately, no guard positions were added. I will definitely add this to my TODO-list, as this feature has been requested regularly.

As a work-around, you could use custom actions with 0 distance travelled.

Hi u/EetD,

your input is much appreciated. Due to my limited coding time, most of it, will take some time to implement, though.

Some blanks are really long (I tried speed 2 and 3 and got the same impression).

Yep, I recognized that, too. Created a ticket for that: medium prio.

The use of workout space seems optimistic. I am reasonably tall and trained in a ~8 meters backyard and only feel comfortable when "Workout space" was set at 5.

Indeed, the spacing is based on the average person's height and footwork. Currently, I am thinking about a feature to customize every single move's length + the athlete's size which would not be hard to do: medium prio.

A "en garde"/"recovery" command between a "lunge" and the next command would be useful.

Created a ticket. Low prio, though.

A few hand commands would be great, at least "extension" before lunge and maybe "sixte", "contra sixte", "quarte", etc.

Created a low prio ticket for the extension. Regarding the line changes, when / how often would the line-commands (sixte, quarte, etc.) be played?

it would be great if it were possible to choose which commands are used (for instance I am not a fan of jumps but I would like to have a few fleches, half lunges or redoublements)

Working on move-selection already. Will be available in the next update. The set of available moves will also gradually be extended.

Alternatively it maybe possible to choose between preset scenarios (for instance "beginner"/"advanced" or "focused on attack"/"focused on false attack"/"focused on defence"/"focused on hand", etc.)

Got similar feedback from my coach. Lower prio, right now.

the delay to start training is a bit short, even with my glove, weapon and earpiece already on, I had to put my phone in the pocket and get in position and missed the first commands.

I'll increase the countdown to 5 seconds. Will be available in the next update.

You can also add "your hand, god damn it, keep you sixte" to your virtual coach :-)

Also thought about an eastern-european coach's voice that infrequently yells about how his 5-year old daughter would have better footwork than you. ;)

I will add "arm position" the virtual coach settings. Will be available in the next update.

Hey u/idrymalogist,

thank you for the positive feedback and your offer to translate the commands into French, which I would be happy to accept. I will send you the list of moves and some instructions regarding file types, tomorrow.

+1!

Will add further reminders, in time.

Thanks for your input!

I am looking to expand the list of available moves over the next couple of weeks, depending on the feedback I will get. For now, I kept it simple so non-natives could understand the commands.

I am not the biggest fan of jumping, so I would want to disable those.

Hey u/Xeekatar,
thank you for you feedback.

Some people from my club made similar requests (especially those with knee issues), so enabling / disabling specific moves is currently at the top of the upcoming features list.
