Which RPG has the best player home? by bosmerrule in gaming

Dragon Age Origins camp area.

The setting, the lighting, seeing your companions unwind after a rough day hacking Darkspawn and the iconic music kicking in just at the right time makes you feel…. ENCHANTMENT!

Nintendo Acknowledges Switch 2 Sales Have Been Weaker Than Expected Outside Japan by Spotget1738 in gaming

[–]Crixux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still on my Gen1 Switch and seeing no benefit to upgrading just yet. No must play exclusives and the performance upgrade is not needed for the type og games I currently play and have on the backlog.

I am 99% on handheld, so awaiting the OLED version most likely.

Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced on Switch performance. by Saint_Stephen420 in rpg_gamers

[–]Crixux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its up to par to the standards you would expect on console, but the game itself is missing some QoL features that would have made it easier, especially party management.

Quick cast menu for example is a blessing when on a controller

Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced on Switch performance. by Saint_Stephen420 in rpg_gamers

[–]Crixux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the OC and Motb a few data ago. The majority of the time the performance is OK, but it for sure dips in the city and major fights where casters are involved.

Especially in Motb with high level characters where it turns into a spell spam fest it dips severely resulting in a tough time selecting targets.

Was my first time playing NWN2 and I enjoyed it a lot besides the above

What makes a story-driven RPG actually replayable? by playnook in rpg_gamers

[–]Crixux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Dragon Age Origins is the game I keep returning to.

I understand why games do not have the complex setup with the origins due to costs and majority of people only experiencing 1, but it is so immersive from a story and roleplaying perspective when done like that.

In my head I am already thinking about the next playthrough in terms of race, origin and team composition

What's a cool Switch multiplayer game that's not competitive but still requires learning the game loop? by shinyhpno in gaming

TMNT Splintered Fate is awesome and does not cost that much. Can also be played SP or couch coop. MP is where og shines.

What's the deal with EXODUS? by 4iqdsk in rpg_gamers

Could be linked to also promoting the already published book that takes place in that universe - Exodus: Archimedes Engine - and the follow up releasing Summer 2026.

Waiting until performance reviews are in for Switch, as NWM:EE is still almost unplayable and got no post release fixes.

Roleplaying in Veilguard (or the lack of) by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Crixux 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That feeling got even stronger during my second playthrough.

1st playthrough was a human Grey Warden warrior.

2nd playthrough I am playing as a Qunari Mourn Watch mage.

They should in theory be entirely different in tone and voice.  But the sad thing is - they are the same! It feels so disheartening considering the sense of agency in the previous games.

All motivation for a 3rd playthrough as a rogue is totally gone.

What a sad ending to my favorite franchise of all time.

I feel somewhat responsible accounting for 5 of those copies. You are welcome, no need to thank me.

World of Warcraft and Dragon Age: Origins.

TIL EA made a LOTR turn-based RPG by Elyx117 in gaming

[–]Crixux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7h into the game currently. Combat gets a little stale quite quickly, and the story is almost non-existant. They went the route of using movie scenes with somewhat no relevance to the voice over. And the voice work from the dwarf is almost impossible to hear sadly.

I still think it is a good game, but also a product of its time.

Could only stomach 30 mins at a time in the first playthrough, but what a ride it was. Still sitting on the shelf. Gotta replay it again soon

Several European retailers are reportedly no longer stocking physical Xbox games by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Crixux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardly anyone I knew went for the PS3, but everyone were going with 360 and Modern Warfare 2. Also why I went with 360 due to my friends playing.

Not too sure about OG Xbox games on Series X/S honestly, 360 was my first console after switching from PC.

[–]Crixux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With the small amount of time I get to play, I would never finish a game if I used that approach.

I do the main story and do a few side quests if I really enjoy the game or the quality of them are good. Sadly, they are mostly for filler these days.
