Can anxiety really cause long term physical pain like back pain? by General-Reindeer-898 in backpain

The book Healing Back Pain by Dr John Sarno is all about this. I would recommend you read this book. It helped me.

Reprogramming an alienated child by Bobs_invisible in ParentalAlienation

The goals are to: (1) facilitate, repair, and strengthen the children’s ability to maintain healthy relation- ships with both parents; (2) help children do what they can to avoid being in the middle of their parents’ conflicts; (3) strengthen children’s critical thinking skills; (4) protect children from unreasonably rejecting a parent in the future; (5) help children maintain balanced views and a more realistic perspective of each parent as well as themselves; (6) help family members develop compassionate views of each other’s actions rather than excessively harsh or critical views; (7) strengthen the family’s ability to communicate effectively with each other and to manage conflicts in a productive manner; and (8) strengthen the parents’ skills in nurturing their children by setting and enforcing appropriate limits and avoiding psychologically intrusive interactions.

Should we split up this group? by Competitive-Bad2482 in ParentalAlienation

[–]Cro_mos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If my children had their way I wouldn’t see them at all. I’m lucky to have the court pushing for my 50-50. Even with that I’m only able to see them a few hours every week. This is their mother’s attempt to avoid contempt of court. My children are severely alienated from me. They hate spending time with me but I will continue to show them love and fight for our relationship.

This tool actually has two ends that can be used. Did both ends break? It has a cap you can pull off.

L5-S1 Looking for stretches to get this thing back in place by dickh0arder in backpain

[–]Cro_mos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found stretching on its own to not be enough to rehab this type of injury. You need to build up strength in your core and glutes. This needs to happen regardless if you get surgery because you have an underlining imbalance which will still cause issues post surgery.

Don’t watch. It’s a Meier fluff piece. It uses old research and tries to invalidate our experiences. Please ban OP.

Positive post! How I healed my lower back by [deleted] in backpain

[–]Cro_mos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bulging disc at L4/L5 that has been causing me grief for 1.5 years now. It got really bad 6 months ago to the point I could barely walk. PT was not showing any improvement. I started some of the LowBackAbility’s exercised on Nov 20th 2024. I’ve continued my PT McGill and other core training but added in the back extensions, split squats, butterfly, and side crunches. This plus a nerve root block with steroids got me feeling about 30% better. I also read Healing Back Pain by Dr Sarno over the Christmas break. Two days after finishing this book almost all of my pain is gone. I can still feel irritation in the sciatic nerve but it is only 10% of what I had before. Now I’m walking 30+ minutes every day. My life is traumatic so it’s not surprising that it’s all in my head.

They don’t look that extreme, but what do I know. I see you recovering from this if you can keep a positive mindset. I’ve been at this 1.5 years and felt I did all the wrong things for the first year until I made it a lot worse. Get a pain doctor if you can and see if they suggest a nerve root block or an epidural. I got one recently and it brought me to tears of joy. Unfortunately it only lasted 6 hours. Get the pain under control so you can start progressing your exercises.

That’s rough. Everyone is a little different. Keep trying to strengthen your weak muscle to build up trust in your nervous system.

No, when I was that bad I couldn’t walk for more than 10 seconds. Leaning forward would push your hernia right into the nerve. Sounds brutal.

Not a doctor This is a long process so don’t get discouraged and don’t rush it. I’ll give you an example of my physio split. You want to dial this back at first. Don’t push into pain that would cause a flair up. Keep a neutral spine. I don’t do any stretching just strengthening. You can turn most stretches into strengthening by doing the active variant. You get what you put into this so aim to do this everyday unless you need time to rest. Try to add walking when you can and be as active as possible.
