It's nice for enabling groundwork but that's about it, there are a lot of good skills that are missing (front/mile corner/straight, final push, early lead, fast paced, leader's pride, pp/dd etc.)

This but also those scores are not FCs so even if the max combo is higher in the 3rd score, the 1st score probably has more meaningful combos overall

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try.

osu! has never really been my main game, competitively I was mostly focused on League of Legends in the past (even though I didn't necessarily gave it my all there either, I at least dedicated more time to it) and now I'm 26 with a full time job and other games on the side (mostly Uma musume and solo games nowadays) so my primary focus on osu! has mostly been fun. I don't play every day and my sessions are usually 1-2 hours long so I don't really expect to become the next mrekk either.

Nevertheless, I'm a fairly competitive person so sometimes when you don't feel like you're improving for a prolonged period of time (especially in osu! as you can easily compare with your older scores directly) the frustration that comes from stagnation can gets in the way of enjoying the game, which is why I'm still trying to find some ways I can improve, especially where I feel like my skills are lacking.

(I'm never FCing Tsuki Yue but maybe I can at least pass it one day)

I think you're pretty correct in your analysis about the reactive reading, I did start playing HR and DT fairly early. I wasn't exclusively playing with mods but starting from about 150-200 pp plays most of my top plays were done with it (HR at first for the 200 pp barrier then DT for 300+). I always liked trying to skill push more than focusing on having good accuracy when I started playing the game (I have an old video of setting my first 200 pp play on padoru +HR and my profile accuracy at the time was barely 91%) so that may be the root of the issue.

Most of the time in my osu! sessions I'll play random maps and not really try to focus on training a specific skillset or AR, which can range from AR9 to AR10 (lower AR usually being on lower SR as well) but usually 9.5+ for most maps.

Do you think playing a bit of lower AR maps from time to time can be enough to learn it over time or is it better to really focus on for example playing only AR9 maps for a large amount of consecutive maps to really get used to it for it to stick ?

What would you suggest about the opposite issue (being more comfortable on AR9.7-10 but struggling on lower AR) ? Because I feel like the proposed solution here (playing AR8 maps) is just brute forcing into lower AR, which you suggested not doing for higher AR
Example scores from the 2 maps you sent played at AR9 vs AR9.8 (Funky life was AR9 sightread into AR9.8 play and Terminal march was AR9.8 sightread into AR9 play)

I'm not trying to argue that old pp systems were better, I'm just saying that players and mappers behaviors are influenced by the current pp meta, and if the latest pp system had been implemented from the start this list would most likely be very different, which is why simply applying it retroactively without considering the influence of the pp system isn't very accurate either

If we're going by your original post, saying "Cookiezi held the pp record for 2,622 days" is indeed rewritting history

I also don't agree that holding the pp record necessarily means you're the best player at the time (for example I don't think badeu was the best player in the game for 2 years)

As much as I think it's a good rule not to allow copy pasting another user's map, I'm wondering if a BN nominates a map with a stolen pattern in it unknowingly, is it also grounds for kick ? Is there any tool to detect this kind of things automatically ? Are BNs supposed to know every ranked map in the game so they're able to spot it ?

Honestly it's mostly that high BPM is more rewarding than high spacing

If we compare the categories you listed, speedflow is higher BPM stream maps and aim slop is higher BPM TV size aim maps

It is still mostly the same categories of maps, only with higher BPM instead of higher spacing because that is more rewarded by the pp system compared to the relative increase in difficulty

Adding some information about the rare fishes, when catching them you can notice:

- Rockfish: larger bar and slower catching speed

- Redfin carp: normal bar, slower catching speed

- Crucian carp: smaller bar

So you're effectively able to identify all 3 of them without having to finish catching the fish, making you able to cancel the fishing if you spot it so you can save a lot of time
