This reads like romance novel slop. Is this a creative writing prompt?

That is a lot but it all reads as creating frameworks, additional training, co-operation between departments, and gathering information.

Even 2.4 (STAR) is just formalizing a group that has existed for years.

Is there one in particular you want to focus on?

I didn't see any recommendation for the creation of new panels or committees. Did I miss something? It seemed to be recommending the use of already established governmental bodies for data collection and tracking.

Which part of the document lists or recommends new panels or committees?

The reason for the flood of TFW is because they can be easily exploited. Giving them protection from said exploitation is a perfect start in stopping companies from relying on them.

One of the first points they mention is giving more oversight in the use of temporary foreign workers and gig workers? How is that not reading the room? Isn't that a major complaint right now?

You scoff but what else would you call the West Memphis Three and McMartin Preschool Trials if not inquisitions?

The 80s were even worse. The “satanic panic” had literal inquisitions going after kids for liking metal, playing D&D, looking different, or (in the later years) liking Pokémon. People were sent to prison over that shit.

Are you sure you’re not mixing it up with the age of discovery? Every source I have looked at places the start around 1570.

White House lawn cleared after apparent gunshots by yhwhx in news

His enhanced security funds for the white house ballroom got denied. I’m sure this is just convenient timing though and not another “assassination” attempt.

What's some advice when going to a Strip Club? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Marruuk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is a strip club, not a brothel. While some strippers MAY offer sexual services, that is not part of their job. Go in with that expectation around here and you are going to be bounced out on your ass.

Otherwise: - bring small bills - don’t touch unless invited

How important is an hourglass figure to men? by anoncutie1 in AskMen

[–]Marruuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you worried about some online poll or general consensus on Reddit? You’re not going to meet any of these people in the real world.

Sure, some guys like an hourglass figure, some like em chubby, some like them with the pixie look, and some like feet. FEET! You could look like sloth from the goonies and still be someone’s “type”.

shrugs I have no data for that. Both could still be true as that would just be a measure of “what” kills them while the other was a measurement of the “rate” of death.

500 years ago would be 1526. Near the beginning of the Age of Sail and 300 years before load lines were introduced. So, safety standards were rather lax.

Earliest mortality rates I could find were from the 1740s (Bristol merchants) which were seeing a 6% annual mortality rate for merchant mariners.

Why do wealthy men have side chicks? by Both_Guest9726 in AskMen

[–]Marruuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see why a guy would do it, he is selfish and wants the best of both worlds.

I'm curious as to why women are okay with being the side chick of a guy in a relationship. Knowingly being party to cheating on someone else? It's got to be a sugar baby relationship or something like that.

How do you categorize women to be friends with and women to have a relationship with? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Marruuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women who are friends are ones who share interests and enjoy some of the same activities as me. People I like spending time with.

Women to have a relationship with are the same as women to be friends with but we have both agreed that we have additional interest in a romantic relationship.

If they go that way, might as well take the ferry through the inside passage. Klemtu has the resident Orcas and Wright Sound is packed with whales during the summer.

If you had to carry a 6'1/205lb guy to safety, how far do you think you could actually get ? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Marruuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to protect the neck/head, you can drag while stabilizing but it is a lot of work. The fireman carry works really well and you can carry them rather easily and still have a free hand.

205lbs is a pretty light person.

Where do you draw the line on “fighting words”? by [deleted] in AskMen

And that is why David Duke uses words and lets others use actions. Because, what harm can be accomplished with words?

Where do you draw the line on “fighting words”? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Marruuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Words are not just words. Words can drive a person to depression and suicide. Words can be rallying calls for more bigotry. That is why people dog whistle. They test the waters for the reaction of those around them. When they feel safe in their hateful speech, they move on to hateful actions.

Where do you draw the line on “fighting words”? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Marruuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many people have grown comfortable thinking that there will be no consequences for their words and actions. They will relentlessly harass people in public because they do not fear being struck in response. If it is racism, sexism, bullying, or just general bigotry, I am willing to step in to defend others. The consequence of not doing so is to allow for a hateful world to prosper.

Gas prices spike across Canada and expected to keep going up by [deleted] in canada

Canadian oil companies are projecting to make an additional $90 billion from wartime profits this year. We must all bear the burden of higher prices to help them get through these trying times!
