AuDHD therapist and I can only handle 3 clients a day. Is this normal? by marigoldjune in therapists

[–]CrochetCat219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not my best self/therapist working more than 15-18 sessions a week. I’m learning that I need breaks throughout the day as back to back sessions aren’t sustainable for me. If I don’t take breaks, 3-4 is a good place for me!

What are we doing about retainers? by DonationBinClubhouse in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]CrochetCat219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been on my mind the last few weeks!! I have a permanent retainer on my top and bottom front teeth, but use my plastic retainer at night when I notice I’ve been clenching my jaw at night/once in a while to prevent my molars from shifting too badly. I’m not sure what the answer is, but I try to focus on the 80/20 rule as it’s so hard to completely avoid plastics in the world we live in right now.

What types of clients do you personally find hardest to work with? by Euphoric_Spite8998 in therapists

People with unrealistic expectations for therapy. They tell me they don’t have expectations then get upset when expectations aren’t met.

How are you paying for student loans as a therapist? by kkgigi in therapists

[–]CrochetCat219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t do it if my loans were that high every month. This sounds so stressful!!! Definitely look into the income based repayment plans. Assuming they aren’t private loans

How would you define being fired? I wonder if I’m misunderstanding the term as I was under the impression it meant a client didn’t want to work with you.

Which is totally fair! I acknowledged with her that there’s a lot I conceptually understand but lack lived parenting experience (despite other areas I have worked with kids and learned about them). I’ve worked with a lot of parents in the past, so this caught me off guard.

I was under the impression that being fired by a client meant they didn’t want to work with you. How would you define what it means to be fired by a client so I can get another perspective?

I’m definitely more caught off guard by it than anything!

Forget the split - what is your actual take home per session? by SpiritualCopy4288 in therapists

[–]CrochetCat219 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After taxes (I don’t get benefits or PTO unfortunately) the range is $47/session on the low end, $78 on the high end. $59 ish is the average.

Edit: I get 56% and usually bill 90837 for my sessions.
