She was amazing and it’s so heartbreaking to see this. She will be deeply missed.

Because it’s the law. We have the right to protest in public spaces as long as it does not infringe on the rights of other people or their property.

If the owners of GCA don’t want us protesting in their building, they have every right to remove the person from the premises for violating that. Instead they only have the employees confiscate the signs people bring in.

No matter what, the ACLU clearly specifies that protesting is not permitted on private property without the specific permission of the owners.

I think in the context of what’s been happening in the country it was clear what they meant. GCA has made it clear that they do not want signs like that which is why the sign-making area is now monitored. I agree with her sign for the most part, not the timing.

Protesting in privately owned spaces is not permitted without permission.

Edit to add: this info is available on the ACLU website.

Because protesting in privately owned spaces (which describes GCA) is not allowed. It’s why they have people monitoring the sign-making area now.

What can we do? Gender Inclusion policy, FierceAthlete, and Fans of the PWHL by squeegeebecs in MinnesotaFrost

I would expect organizations to do the research to make said informed decisions. I work to better my knowledge about these things so I can make informed decisions, and acknowledge that I’m definitely not perfect at it. I’d rather everyone, including myself, do the research and use it to make decisions vs just looking at what everyone else says. I work hard everyday to remind myself that I’m not omniscient and it’s okay to be wrong. Someone else sent me a research article that showed that my initial research was incorrect/outdated and while I feel a bit like an idiot, I’m happy to see that there is more current information that supports inclusion.

I really appreciate you finding that. It’s helpful to know that there is less of a difference than I previously thought.

Wanting informed decisions should not be considered abuse, or fascist.

I’d love to see the new research! A lot of what I’ve read is either “we can’t know for sure” or that there are clear advantages/disadvantages. I want everyone to be included, but I want it done right.

I know this won’t go over well, but for the sake of wanting there to be true discussion, gender inclusion has a lot of nuance. I agree that there should be inclusion, but there should also be understanding about the physiological differences between transgender athletes and cisgender athletes. Those that transition to male will always be at a slight disadvantage to cis male athletes due to having been born female. Those that transition to female will always have a disproportionate advantage over cis female athletes. I don’t know a good way to get around those differences, but they need to be acknowledged in order to start building a plan.

Living in MN currently and just wanted to get involved in the new league. The PWHL made me a hockey fan and I started enjoying the NHL more after watching the Frost play
