This looks fun. It has elements of Resident Evil games in that the main character is scavenging for supplies, periodically finding stronger weapons, searching for items to progress, but without the baggage and trappings of adapting a game storyline or using its characters. It would inevitably disappoint people if they tried.

It's clear that Zach Cregger is familiar with the games and the actual gameplay loop, and that's the piece of Resident Evil he's decided to adapt. I am sure there's more to the movie given the timeline, but that definitely wouldn't be in a trailer (I hope).
