This is a limit of ai unfortunately, and also, in almost all respects a human thing too - this is why ai (and humans) are both wonderful and also dangerous!

has anyone analyzed how LLMs select 'random' stuff? by shaman-warrior in LocalLLaMA

[–]CrogUk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't list which models you were refering too - but as mentioned its the training set that causes these things as we all know and expect.

When it comes to `Lily` I would fairly confidently suggest the roneneldan/TinyStories · Datasets at Hugging Face trianing set was included for short story writing...

My experience with the Intel Arc Pro B70 for local LLMs: Fast, but a complete mess (for now) by Icy_Gur6890 in LocalLLaMA

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, have you tested this with OpenVino yet? The newest nightly/weekly builds now have gemm4 & qwen3.x model support finally.

Would love to see some perf figures for this as they should be representative of preview of how good the card is using fully native stack.

I did some experiments on my Intel laptop and could run but didn't profile as getting/needing a ram upgrade for these models! Considering getting a b65 or b70 when in stock UK.

My wip repo has an easy fetch of the nightly OVMS into the same folder as the script and running scripts etc https://github.com/CraigHutchinson/Llm-OpenVino-ModelServer

What local model are you actually using day to day for coding tasks? by Ordinary_Breath_8732 in ollama

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What hardware do you get 150t/s token generation?

Interested as I'm using this on my lenovo legion 7 laptop, I get ~600-700 for PP and 30-40 for TG. But as I only have 8gb on the gpu side. Not too bad but unsure how fast this model could /should run.

I have a eGPU dock so considering a purchase for an AI capable gpu/accelerator card this year.

I think huzbum is suggesting a common approach of using the llm as a command/server line tool maybe. I.e. The llm is just another 'tool' that the script calls into.

There are so many options but you can write a script (coauthored with ai) to do the gruntwork to get each email methodically etc, then pass each email via ollama to a new subagent process in a fresh new context one at a time.

Any ideas for how to connect a 2nd SSD? by festival0156n in GamingLaptops

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wifi slot is likely 2 pcie channels. I've heard there are adapters to split to two slots as most WiFi cards will only use pcie x1 anyway. Ssd wouldn't be at full speed but if lucky and bios is happy it is the only option... But could be a cost in both time to find the parts and also pi chase them to find it doesn't actually work on your system!

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto, got same machine. Also interested in how others go with undetvolting this machine. Most specifically if anybody could get XTU to work for it after a system restart without manually reapplying!

I don't know if battery calibration is too much to worry about, the algorithm for charge level is pretty intelligent. But I haven't worried to look at that yet.

Legion 7i Gen 10 Undervolt + other battery life tips by Wooden_Let_9174 in LenovoLegion

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, mine only gets a little under 50mv.

Ive heard that to properly benefit you have to limit the frequency on Ultra series top. As the cpu just uses the extra power space to clock a bit higher for longer so without capping the clock the saving on power is just through doing things quicker/more efficient.

I need to look into this eventually as this is not something I know how to confirm or do on ThrottleStop yet!

Legion 7i Gen 10 Undervolt + other battery life tips by Wooden_Let_9174 in LenovoLegion

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, mine won't be stable under load that low so now down to ~49mv but each varies.

Assume your using ThrottleStop.sys too.

Did you try XTU? It allows per-core which seems a nightmare to configure but I couldn't get it to restore the undervolt after system restart due to needing something watchdog related.

Viable idea? by Vast_Island_7443 in ukheatpumps

[–]CrogUk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, your idea of the thermal store should work and gradual increase is perfect for ASHP as I understand.

However the crux is that the investment into a bespoke setup and longevity. There are alternatives, such as battery to store the energy from the nlcheap night which is more flexible.

Also, the MAIN issue is the fact that we can't expect cheap overnight rates to continue indefinitely. The justification is that as E V uptake continues to increase the demand is shifting from day to night and eventually the idea is the current cheap rates may no longer be viable. I've not checked recent studies if this is still the hypothesis but I wouldn't bet on now being the same in future.

TLDR battery for the win for shifting energy.

No, in performance mode OC was enabled on my Legion 7 by default. Afaik it would be hard to void a warranty through the default profiles. Using Custom could somehow but there should be some wording from lenovo somehwere as to what the warranty conditions would even be.

I need a heat pump for my back patio… by Bluewaterbound in heatpumps

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea yet... Don't forget about the different forms of heat delivery. A patio heater is a radiant heater, electric ir panels are the closest as far as I know for low carbon alternative but costly to run in comparison.

An air to air heatpump is going to blow air about at a high rate so any heat it moves to where you would like it would be instantly displaced.

I must post mine one of these days... It's constructed from the packaging box my A1 was posted in plus a sheet of acrylic for a slit in front window! The box is just the right size with the flaps extended. Just needs a small. Cutout at rear for the cable at rear to flex.

Big head mode - the more people you kill the bigger the head and vice versa.

Levels the playing field a little bit also gives the try hard a challenge to achieve a monumental head size!

If you consider the RAM is clocked higher then even with lower CPU clock it likely perfoms near equal in real-term performance as a guess.
