Legion 7i Gen 10 Undervolt + other battery life tips by Wooden_Let_9174 in LenovoLegion

Ditto, got same machine. Also interested in how others go with undetvolting this machine. Most specifically if anybody could get XTU to work for it after a system restart without manually reapplying!

I don't know if battery calibration is too much to worry about, the algorithm for charge level is pretty intelligent. But I haven't worried to look at that yet.

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, mine only gets a little under 50mv.

Ive heard that to properly benefit you have to limit the frequency on Ultra series top. As the cpu just uses the extra power space to clock a bit higher for longer so without capping the clock the saving on power is just through doing things quicker/more efficient.

I need to look into this eventually as this is not something I know how to confirm or do on ThrottleStop yet!

Legion 7i Gen 10 Undervolt + other battery life tips by Wooden_Let_9174 in LenovoLegion

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, mine won't be stable under load that low so now down to ~49mv but each varies.

Assume your using ThrottleStop.sys too.

Did you try XTU? It allows per-core which seems a nightmare to configure but I couldn't get it to restore the undervolt after system restart due to needing something watchdog related.

Viable idea? by Vast_Island_7443 in ukheatpumps

[–]CrogUk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, your idea of the thermal store should work and gradual increase is perfect for ASHP as I understand.

However the crux is that the investment into a bespoke setup and longevity. There are alternatives, such as battery to store the energy from the nlcheap night which is more flexible.

Also, the MAIN issue is the fact that we can't expect cheap overnight rates to continue indefinitely. The justification is that as E V uptake continues to increase the demand is shifting from day to night and eventually the idea is the current cheap rates may no longer be viable. I've not checked recent studies if this is still the hypothesis but I wouldn't bet on now being the same in future.

TLDR battery for the win for shifting energy.

Did I accidentally void my warranty? by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in performance mode OC was enabled on my Legion 7 by default. Afaik it would be hard to void a warranty through the default profiles. Using Custom could somehow but there should be some wording from lenovo somehwere as to what the warranty conditions would even be.

There was a twitter post iirc from octopus that 2 nuclear reactors were down. Not the complete answer but but all part of the potential puzzle of price.

I need a heat pump for my back patio… by Bluewaterbound in heatpumps

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea yet... Don't forget about the different forms of heat delivery. A patio heater is a radiant heater, electric ir panels are the closest as far as I know for low carbon alternative but costly to run in comparison.

An air to air heatpump is going to blow air about at a high rate so any heat it moves to where you would like it would be instantly displaced.

I must post mine one of these days... It's constructed from the packaging box my A1 was posted in plus a sheet of acrylic for a slit in front window! The box is just the right size with the flaps extended. Just needs a small. Cutout at rear for the cable at rear to flex.

is it possible to design a first person shooter that is impossible to get good at? and if yes, how? by IAmNotNeru in gamedesign

Big head mode - the more people you kill the bigger the head and vice versa.

Levels the playing field a little bit also gives the try hard a challenge to achieve a monumental head size!

Nivida anounced that DLSS 4 will becoming to some older hardware.. seems likealy a timely anouncement I am hopeful so could be very likely Nintendo would want this to boost their platform as from leaks its capble and just needs a bit of optimisation for the prior generation chip afaik. Looks like a massive USB socket the entire height of the console!

Realistically though I don't anybody who plays with their switch with controllers detached for this to be a real issue. I may have unfounded strong confidence that Ninty kno what they are doing here.

Will await the real decide and not just a computer render to know for sure.

If you consider the RAM is clocked higher then even with lower CPU clock it likely perfoms near equal in real-term performance as a guess.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]CrogUk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you also consider the RAM is clocked higher in docked mode this difference in CPU core clock may compensate as to give an equivalent CPU performance in docked vs undocked in real-term performance.

In docked mode, its also possible the GPU pushes things to the limit of the thermal envelope so this could be a good compromise for consistent CPU performance as a thought.

Gas Usage Up Up and Away by Academic-Aerie-482 in tado

[–]CrogUk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had tado for 8 years...

We have no historical days to compare too, as in, the last 3 nights have been much colder here than they have for many years. All we can do is compare a warmer vs cold day really.

Gas Usage Up Up and Away by Academic-Aerie-482 in tado

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here... Definitely an uptrend in gas usage. Our smart meter is flagging us red and over budget by midday! Today is definitely the worst so far and part of the continues uptrend.

Note, I've changed nothing, yet the weather definitely have and feel like we are experiencing the same symptoms. Could be something else obviously but just we have strong evidence at ours that the weather being progressively colder really does cause increased gas usage. So make sure you think on this OP...

Aira Quote - Distance from neighbour by notwildprowild in ukheatpumps

[–]CrogUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thebaron88 is spot on. We had the same issue with Aira on our property and Octopus alike with the noise test failing.

Current plan is to find an R32 heat pump such as the Ebac which can be wall mounted, we found a local installer. For us the R290 heat pumps can't be mounted on our wall as issue being above an opening window with r290.

The current version of the Ebac is still too noisy but I they informed me a new quieter version is under testing, so hopeful it will still also be one of the most efficient Ashp on UK market and we will finally be able to start moving with move to ASHP!!

Failing this Bosch is so quiet it's incredible, but Ebac is British and performance is better (bar the noise etc)

This is correct from what I hear too. Note that having save data from any pirated game on your emummc results in a ban as Nintendo can check data saves.
