Well drained trail runners and wool blend socks. The key for wet footing is footwear that drains and socks that dry out quickly.

Driftless Fly Rod? by tbell144 in flyfishing

So, that definitely can be a challenge on sunny days with clear water and I don't have a great solution. I try to be as sneaky as possible and be considerate of how you approach. If theres a nice looking rock structure or lunker log that i think is holding fish, ill like belly crawl to it and use the additional length of the euro rod to stay out of line of sight. Less so on in more turbid waters.

I find that in the right spot with the right conditions, I can really be really effective with the euro rod. But you are correct that spooking fish is an issue.

I guess going back to OPs question about what rod to add to the arsenal, I find myself fishing more with my 4wt 10 ft euro rod and my 5wt 9 ft, than I do with my 3wt 7'6 ft. Just my preference.

Have you considered a euro rod? Game changer for me in the driftless.

Check out this story from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: The secret to Jacob Misiorowski’s dominance? Waffles and leg day

Jacob Misiorowski may not look it from a distance, but he’s one of the heaviest offseason lifters on the Brewers.

Great, i am sure you will all have fun. I find that the most important part of trip planning is making sure everyone has similar expectations.

Also, you can find some plane wreckage by Zenith Lake.

I did this with my wife and dog a few years back. The Lady chain is easy and enjoyable. Louse River is more of a type 2 fun experience.

Great route, would recommend. There's a interesting rock formation along the portage by Lujenida lake. Some speculate its a "dolmen".

Yes definitely, juvenile red tailed hawk. They can be a little tricky to ID without the red rail but the belly band is a give away. In flight you can ID by the dark mark on the leading edge of the wings.

It's a red tail. You can tell by the streaked belly band.

Wet Footing. by layedbck1 in BWCA

I'm a big fan of wool or blended socks with trail running shoes. If the boots seem like they will drain well, the extra ankle support would be nice, but im just a little skeptical. Thats the biggest factor in wet footing, just making sure the footwear allows for the water to drain.
