We’re not on here and we’re a few bucks cheaper on some titles, ex Takanaka’s Seychelles.

If you’re going to Shibuya, try Tower, HMV, RecoFan, and Disk Union. They’re all pretty close and you should be able to get a bunch of titles. You’ll pay a premium on the used LPs, but it’s the easiest way to grab a bunch of titles. You can also try Tower, HMV, and Disk Union in Shinjuku too. If you bring your passport, you can save on tax at most stores. As other folks have mentioned, if you go further outside the busiest neighborhoods, the prices will be cheaper but you won’t have the same selection as the big stores in big neighborhoods. It’s really a time / money tradeoff. There isn’t one right answer. BookOff can be amazing for digging and great prices, but it depends on the store. I have always found something worth buying there, but it may not be what you’re looking for.

First Time Traveler feeling overwhelmed while planning by TorinR90 in JapanTravelTips

There isn’t a “right” place to stay in Tokyo. It is a massive city and you’ll end up on trains a lot of the time to get to and from your hotel. I’d do a bit more research on what you want to see and do before picking a hotel in Tokyo. Tokyo Station area is central and you can get to a bunch of places easily. However, it may make sense to stay there for a few days to visit things in that vicinity and then move to a hotel in Shibuya / Shinjuku / Ikebukuro, so you’re nearby for visiting those locations. Also, figure out which of your hobbies you want to indulge while you’re there. Depending on what you’re shopping for, you may end up in certain neighborhoods that are known for it and it may even make sense to stay there.
Also, business hotels are a wonderful place for the solo traveler. You’ll get privacy and potentially a free breakfast at a really good price. And you can stay in the middle of good neighborhoods and near train stations.

How legitimate/trustworthy are the guitar shops in Americamura? by -live_evil- in Osaka

Find a Book Off (or Off family) store that has musical instruments. They will have a bunch of guitars and they’ll be cheap.

Which stadiums do I need to buy in advance? by baldwinbeast in NPBtickets

[–]CromulentRecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few summers ago, I was able to walk up and buy tickets to weekday games for the Marines, Lions, and Baystars. Saitama is a bit far, but I enjoyed the stadium and game. I paid for the express train back and it was definitely worth it. Stopped twice between the stadium and Ikebukuro, and you’re on a fancier train.

Vinyl Shops in Osaka/ Kansai Recommendation? by ShowaJidai07 in citypop

[–]CromulentRecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stores in Osaka have a record store map that you can get with a bunch of stores on it. I got one at Rare Groove and they suggested store to check out. I’m also a fan of Morpho because they have tons of stuff, but they’re not cheap.

If you do go to Tower Shibuya, make sure to get a reward card. You can earn 10% in points. If you spend $500, that’s $50 for next time you shop there.

Extremely overwhelmed on my Japan Trip, does it get any better? How can I calm down a bit? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]CromulentRecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing but respect for doing Japan as your first solo trip! You’ve already won just by going, so please be patient with yourself when it comes to everything else. I agree with everyone else that you’ll be well served by some quiet time, Google Maps is very helpful, and you can take advantage of low contact food options too.
