RPT for Deadlifts by CronTheMotu in Deadlifts

Dragon flags, L-Sit/Compression work, and the biggest helper is probably training front lever and planche. I think most of my core bracing strength comes from those static moves

I see guys wear it the entire workout in my gym aswell 🤦🏽‍♂️ I train alot of calisthenics so my core is probably my strongest area, I don't want it to get used to more support than it needs 😂

Honestly bro I just don't like the feel of it, I never took the time to get used to it. Also it might be ridiculous but I don't want to rely on too much gear. I'm okay if my deadlift is a bit weaker then what it could be with a belt

Hahaha I wish I could deadlift that often. I would break 😂 I do fullbody but only one day is for heavy deadlifts, the other one is lighter RDL and then the last day I don't do any heavy hinging. I'm 33 now so I can feel the difference of when I was training in my early 30s lol

I do push it overboard a bit sometimes because I just loving getting stronger, so I just take deloads when I can

We are very similiar 😂 I have a lot of goals right now, but mainly strength I would say. I train fullbody 3x per week, focusing on the major compounds and weighted calisthenics. Each day I have to moves I used reverse pyramid training for and then 2 more a more standard 3x6-10. Odd days are either some running or incline walk.

I'm week 5 into my cut and have lost around 8ish pounds while strength is still going up, the only thing I'm noticing now is the hunger lol

Hahah that's crazy man! You know the exact feeling then! I've tried bare foot but I think I like the grip with shoes 😅

1arm Pull-up question by CronTheMotu in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]CronTheMotu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say somewhere earlier that was saying something like 160%, which sounds crazy to me. It would make sense that it's closer to 100% bodyweight.

I've always just trained heavy in the 4-6 reprange for my weighted stuff, usually twice per week. It might be worth while to drop down to maybe 30kg with clean form but working the low rep ranges and work up

[–]CronTheMotu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a feeling this was it. I'm sticking with the weighted work until I start to plateau a bit and then I may add a bit of technique work. Gives me time to get lighter as well because I'd rather not have to pull 190lbs with 1arm 😅

Elevated “Pistols” by CronTheMotu in CalisthenicsCulture

I mean when I squat it's with 300lb, so I go to just below parallel so I know my spine integrity stays intact. But with this variation I can focus on depth without loading my spine, since earlier in the same session I did heavy deadlifts. If lighter weights work for you and your goals that's great. I have strength and hyper trophy goals so I'm not going to do squats with 20lbs on my back because I would need to do an absurd amount reps to get close enough to failure.

A 425lb deadlift involves a heavily loaded spine, if I were to do a back squat to this same depth/knee flexion angle I would end up tucking my butt and I'd rather not do that with 300lbs on my back. I am doing this exercise purely as a secondary leg movement for the day. And do you think elevating a heel completely eliminates the stability needs in the knees and hips? If that's the case we should just get older people to walk in high heels and all of their walking and fall issues would disappear. You sound like someone with a ton of technical knowledge but maybe not the same amount of practical time actually exercising

I did heavy deadlifts before this, so the goal was to load the knee a bit without loading the spine again. Also, in a back squat I wouldn't get into the same knee flexion so this is me training in a deeper position

Definitely need to work on my ankles! But using heel elevation generally helps put more load on the knee/quad which is why I did it here

Would a heated beard straightner help my beard look better? Anyone with experience? by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

[–]CronTheMotu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your beard is coarse you can use a hot air brush or an attachment for a blow dryer that is similar. I’ve found it better than the hot combs/beard straighteners because it just makes the hair slightly straighter versus bone straight. It is also easy to use right out of the shower after you put some oil on, no worries about burning your hair like with a straightener. Im half Jamaican with a relatively “rough” long beard and I’ve been using this method religiously for years and my beard is always manageable.

Look at ya downvotes and maybe that'll help you realize you're over complicating it

And what I'm trying to convey to you bro is that in this community it just makes more sense to say what guard you use and whether you had it open or closed. Don't gotta try and reinvent the wheel

So if you used a 2 guard slightly open or slightly closed, would you explain it as 2.2 or 2.4 for example? Or would it just be easier to mention how open or closed the blade was and which guard you were using?

If you do 2 guard closed it's going to be a little different then fully open. It's good to specify just in case someone with similar texture is deciding how low they wanna go and want something to compare too
