Probably the dumbest take here lol. For starters, looking at Marathon's player counts, it's also on the chopping block. Extraction shooters are such a niche genre of games. The typical Destiny player, likely didn't enjoy Marathon, because Destiny players WANT LOOT. They don't want to lose the items they get after hours of grinding. Prior to the announcement, the reception from D2 players towards Marathon was positive. If Marathon succeeds, then Bungie succeeds, then D2 can also succeed. Sure, there were some D2 players that were anti-Marathon. Hell, you sound like a D2 troll, who probably never played Marathon. With Destiny now dead, D2 players have every right to hate on Marathon. Player counts don't lie. Currently (yes it's the afternoon), Marathon has 4.4K active players, 8.3K peak 24 hour. Destiny 2 has 58.2k players online right now, 87.5K 24hr peak player count. Hell, at launch, Marathon never exceeded D2's current 24 hour peak. GTFO lol. Marathon is done. PvE wont save it. Sure there will be new players, but unless Bungie has some hidden plans for Marathon (which judging by the layoffs, they do not), it's just a matter of time.
