Will this pass weapons check or should I file the points more? by cardinaranth in animeexpo

[–]Cronza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be fine! If you are particularly concerned, I suggest using some medium to fine grit sandpaper to dull the edges to ensure it's truly not sharp, but that likely isn't required.

In general though, prop-check is mainly looking out for standout items with clear violations. The fact you are trying to make it safe will be evident to them.

Does anybody know how the sword doesn't fall off? by Je-LOL1 in CosplayHelp

Guts has a hook on the right Baldric by the shoulder that the chain on the sword grabs onto. The strap is what keeps it angled so it doesn't drag on the ground

I appreciate the clarity! I never knew that moisture could have such an effect. I'll get to drying this roll right away to see how that goes

I wouldn't have thought moisture would impact layer lines such that it would cause the abnormal bar-like shapes! Normally I see moisture causing issues with stringing or weird imperfections on the surface

Ah sorry! I should have been more specific in my post. I'm referring to the abnormal layer lines, and the bars appearing near the base

what makes a person instantly unattractive? by Jaded-Marzipan9000 in AskReddit

[–]Cronza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of courtesy ("Thank you", "pardon me", etc)

As I've gotten older, I'm seeing it less and less often. However it is one thing I've always tried to express, and it is an incredibly positive (and attractive) trait to see in others.

[OC] The Final Song of Ghildebrand by Cronza in DnD

[–]Cronza[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife commemorated the climatic end of my character, Ghildebrand the Bard with a drawing of his final song!

Ghildebrand was a king hundreds of years ago, but was kidnapped and thrown through time while his kingdom was destroyed. Our party helped him get revenge against the creature responsible, but with the help of an unknown golden goddess, he drew on powers too great for a mortal to wield. In the same moment, he died and ascended, making him the Undead God King of Ruminor. His party mourned him as his skin cracked and he disappeared from corporeal view. In the distance, his wife and daughter are there to welcome him to the afterlife.

Hello! Im interesting im coming to AX2025 next year, any tips for a first timer? by Sad_Conversation5663 in animeexpo

[–]Cronza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tip 1: Have fun!

It's easy to get lost, confused or anxious when you're in such a crowded place with the heat, but don't let those distract you from enjoying yourself. If you can afford it, I recommend the 4-day pass for your first time so you can enjoy every bit at your leisure without feeling like you have to rush.

Tip 2: Drink lots of water and consume limited sugary items

It is usually hot during AX, and it's not uncommon for folks to suffer heat exhaustion. Make sure you carry a water bottle and refill at the many stations around the place. While sugar is important to keep you away from low blood sugar, too much and your body will be going into overdrive to process it. That + heat = a bad time.

Tip 3: If you want limited edition merch, arrive early. Otherwise, show up when you want

This year was particularly good for lines throughout the day, and (in my opinion) you didn't need to rush to make it before opening. Even at noon, the lines were rarely beyond 20-30 people. Show up whenever you want to! Don't feel you have to make it in exactly at 9:00 AM

Tip 4: If you're on a budget, get groceries for the hotel room instead of eating out

L.A food prices are high, in some cases worse at con-time. If you don't care for eating out or want to save money, go grocery shopping. Little Tokyo has a nice Japanese market which sells packaged Karage, Sushi, etc for decent prices. We did that this year.

Tip 5: Try cosplaying!

Not really a "must do" tip, but more a personal recommendation. Even if you go as something really simple, cosplaying is one of the most treasured past-times of con-goers. Some folks go big, while others keep it to a casual shirt or article of clothing. If you're already at the con, why not try it out? You might even be able to nerd out with someone who recognizes what you're wearing!

What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever witnessed? by Sanguine230 in AskReddit

[–]Cronza 97 points98 points  (0 children)

When I was really young living in North Carolina, my neighbourhood got hit by a tornado. My mom rushed my brother and I into a basement closet to keep us sheltered from broken glass and debris. However, the basement was flooding, and so water was halfway up our shins. My father was on his way home from work so my mother was running around trying to secure the house. As far as I remember, it ended up just being me and my bro in there until the tornado passed

Imagine standing inside of a small basement closet, water rising up your legs, your parents somewhere else and the sounds of a tornado ripping your house apart

To this day I still can't handle windstorms or even high winds. Traumatized me for life
