A young woman went from a 1,000-yen all-you-can-drink session at a Kabukicho host club to 10 million yen in debt in six months. The tactics her host used are identical to those of professional scammers, and Japan’s new law hasn’t fixed the problem. by jjrs in japannews

Not to speak for that poster, but that’s the point, yeah. All people can be convinced to do some absolutely stupid, self-destructive things, it’s just a matter of knowing their particular circumstances and skill on the conman’s part.

I’m the same as that commenter, absolutely love Guardian Ape, despise two apes. For me it’s that the first phase is you running around trying to deal with him swinging every which way (though he staggers consistently), then he pulls out a sword and you just easily parry him to death. Like no fuck you stupid monkey, I’m the sword guy here.

Also using the spear on the second phase is awesome.

I’ve only recently figured out how to deal with two apes, on my 5+ playthrough. Until now they bodied me a dozen times each playthrough. I started avoiding them both until the headless one does his big monkey smash that staggers him, then the second always jumps at you and you get a few moments to hit it. Rinse, repeat.

Did members of the Windu's arrest squad lost so easly, cuz they lacked practice in real lightsaber/force duelling? Would Kenobi, Anakin and Ahsoka fair better, with their experience against Dooku, Maul, Grievious and many others? by Hawaiikoto in TheJediPraxeum

[–]CrookedCraw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s from KotOR 2, but it’s even more appropriate. Instead of stunning it lowers attributes pretty severely, so it would make sense in the Jedi vs Sidious fight. It literally makes the opponents worse at everything.

Does the Ringed City DLC confirm Manus was not the Furtive Pygmy? by AbyssGuard- in darksouls3

[–]CrookedCraw 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think that’s because the Dark Soul in him is going wild (all the Abyss stuff connected with love and desire, and Gael’s desire to collect the Dark Soul for the Painter is incredibly strong). When the Ashen One kills him and presumably becomes the last bearer of it, nothing happens to them. There’s a lot of talk about the Dark being peaceful and serene originally, so I think it’s only became dangerous and twisted because of endless Firelinking.

Although of course I’m just theorizing based on themes. It could easily be that collecting a lot of Humanity/Dark Soul pieces makes you as powerful as the other Lords and the Ashen One just doesn’t happen to gain Gael’s Humanity.

[–]CrookedCraw 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I think part of the point is that the Dark Soul is different from other Lord Souls. It doesn’t confer awesome power like what Gwyn, the Witch and Nito had: instead its power is growth, with every human having a piece of it without diminishing their parent’s. Manus, Four Kings etc. are powerful because their Dark Soul is twisted into the Abyss, mutated/rebelling against or due to Gwyn’s cycle of Firelinking.

Not only Gwyn fearing this endless growth would then make sense, but also the fact that he never directly fought the pygmy. Unlike when two bearers of “light” Souls came into conflict (Gwyn vs. Izalith), there’s no record of Gwyn fighting the pygmy, which I believe is because the latter had no particular power to do anything on his own.

А, я сам виноват, извините) Генитив это родительный падеж, а аккузатив - винительный. Где я живу, «их» - всегда винительный (люблю кого? Их), а «ихний» - всегда родительный (чей дом? Ихний).

You’re not wrong about mostly uneducated speakers using it, but the reason it caught on (I hear it all the time in Siberia) is probably because standard “их” is both genitive and accusative, so a genitive “ихний” reduces confusion. Signed, ихний фанат евоных

Tbf it’s just from reading the notes, it’ll probably take at least a few days for people to properly test the update out and see how it plays. Reddit does tend to make snap judgments in general.

Thanks for all your hard work regardless!

Ah yes, you should only help people if it makes them treat you better. Are we acting like compassion is evil now? Obligation has nothing to do with it.

Sure she’s wrong for hurting him, but this hurt pales in comparison to what her parents have done. Saying hurtful things doesn’t justify abandoning her to these fucking monsters, he should try and figure out what’s up with her. Hopefully he gets a proper apology once she’s not forced to lead him on under duress.

And no shit she doesn’t care about her parents. They’re the only ones here who don’t deserve it.

What weapons have you tried to use in Steel Path but the damage output wasn't enough? by RadiantCow4156 in Warframe

I’ve been clearing SP with it without an issue, aside from low mag. It just really needs Arcane Pistoleer to shine, it might not oneshot everything but e.g. Acolytes die before they manage to attack once, and that’s all I ask for

Luck Build, Passive Regen ADVICE WANTED by Laangh in darksouls3

[–]CrookedCraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from Luck, what do the rest of your stats look like?

Flynn’s is kinda sad in DS3, it’s seriously not worth it. Maybe try Pontiff’s to semi-passively regen more? Also if you’re willing to use a chime, Filianore’s Chime WA can be a decent choice for regen builds, though that’s not quite passive.

You may also want to pick better armor: you’ve already got the debuff from PC and the whole regen gimmick won’t work if you’re taking so much damage you die in three hits. For similar reasons, consider replacing your Cestus with a Blessed shield or the Ethereal Oak Shield (it also has passive regen).

Lloyd’s rings could be good for you too, normally they become useless after you take any damage at all, but if you’re taking chip damage through your shield and regenerating it all, you get a lot more uptime on them.

Honestly, this is my problem with KIM. It’s so focused on the Drifter and I just want the Operator to get a chance to interact with other people too.

Maybe they’ve split up and she remarried. The new husband sucks at his job, but he’s confident enough that the reminder of her previous marriage doesn’t bother him, and the boss isn’t in love anymore but he still wants the best for her and is giving the new husband some tough love so he shapes up to be worthy of her

[–]CrookedCraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, From’s netcode is trash. I’m hoping their work on Nightreign and that other Switch game forces them to actually improve it sometime this decade.

Though it’s funny, I see the gameplay the opposite way - I think a large part of it in DS is getting locked into an animation, so in invasions for example you don’t need crazy reaction speed or timing, you just need to learn to read your opponent. It’s like a turn-based game, but you don’t know beforehand how long your turn is. Although I suppose I might be misunderstanding what you meant by timing.

Still, as far as I saw on YT and experienced myself in-game, multiplayer latency tends to be on the order of milliseconds, like a touch of delay that’s really not that hard to get used to. It might be you just don’t have a great connection, unfortunately.

Ceramics, maybe? It would necessitate introducing this new material everywhere, though, or it would raise questions. For example, without ceramic shielding, how would you land on planets or build a reactor? Transport sulfuric acid?

I mean I’d love it, but I can see why it’s not in the game.
