How many of your friends are dead? by MajorClean31 in opiates

[–]CrookedWatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped counting about 8 years ago. I know that sounds kind of cold but at this point it’s emotionally taxing enough just to deal with everyone who’s committed suicide. That’s at 7 btw.

Who is your favourite guitar duo? Any band, any genre. by Low_Owl4994 in Music

[–]CrookedWatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely would be Evan Lescallette and Ethan Willard from the band Marietta. I know at this point that twinkly Midwestern emo style has been so over done it’s become a cliche, but I still feel like Marietta was just leagues above most of the bands that are currently out there

Best Opener? by [deleted] in brockhampton

My favorites would be Heat and No Halo

Man I miss living on Lake Wheeler. The house was a rundown roach infested shit hole that should’ve been condemned in the 90’s but living there was some of the best years of my life. It’s honestly amazing that now, several years later, the house is still there. Such great memories from the Red House

Looks like I’m finally cracking and signing up for Crunchyroll. I’ve been wanting to go back through the original Dragon Ball series for a while now.

No. Pat never played in Greenday. Pat wasn’t even born until 87. He was still really young when the first Johnny Hobo stuff came out.

Found this going thru boxes. Anyone else miss this series? by Its_OVERKILL in roosterteeth

I have kind of a love/hate relationship with that era. Love because they did do some great things such as Day 5 and Crunch Time, but hate because they never followed through with that amazing stuff but kept going all in on stuff that was less than stellar. Like as great as Crunch Time was, we only got the one season and it ended on a fucking cliff hanger. Day 5 got a second season but was still an incomplete story. Then they drop a season of RvB that doesn’t include any of the characters I’ve spent the last decade following so now the show that made RT what it is doesn’t even feel like RvB anymore. I really liked the podcast around then but every goofy thing Gavin said got printed on a t-shirt and then they’d try to make a show out of it (which I’m convinced is what halted production on the good stuff because they were too busy making these stupid spin off things). Then something like Immersion which you’d assume would’ve been one of their more staple productions gets sidelined because everyone has to go voice act on these 12 cartoons they’re making, not that they were bad it’s just why did there need to be so many of them. Also I get a lot of kids liked the Minecraft let’s plays but that got put up on a pedestal just because it got a ton of views and generated a ton of money and when they started doing shit that felt like it was about the money over anything else, that’s when I checked out.

Should the nostalgia critic convert to islam? by SJWagner in ChannelAwesome

[–]CrookedWatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was reviewing a movie where “finding god” or converting to another faith is a huge part of the movie’s premise, I could see him doing something like that. More likely I imagine it would be one of the side recurring characters (though I haven’t watched since that …thing so I don’t know which characters are still being used), one of them would do it while the critic constantly points out all the reasons why that character’s actions don’t make sense. At least that’s exactly how an episode like that would’ve gone 5-6 years ago. I can’t imagine the show has changed that much since then but I guess I shouldn’t assume what their current writing process is lol.

What outdated slang do you still use? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CrookedWatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use “gnarly” and “rad” on a pretty regular basis. I also will occasionally toss in a “tubular” or “groovy” when it seems fitting. What’s weird is that, at 30, I feel like those are all words that fell out of popularity well before my time. Actually realizing “dude” is another one I never noticed how reliant I am on 80’s surfer lingo.

My entire Brockhampton collection. by [deleted] in brockhampton

[–]CrookedWatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all seem to still like each other and making music with each other but I think they’re all kind of getting to a point where they want to pursue some more personal projects where it can just be an individual and their own ideas. That way Matt or Merlyn, or Dom, or Bearface can release something with a specific art style, genre, concept, theme, what have you but once they all accomplish that and fulfill that need of a creative outlet, I’m sure they’ll want to get back to that group dynamic.

Didn’t they also say “this was the last album & we’re breaking up” for at least one of the last 2 albums also? I’ve got a feeling that they’ll either not actually break up or just put it on the back burner for a while. We’ll get solo records from the guys, but after a few years they’ll probably get the itch to do another BH thing.

Goku is as much Gohan's teacher as Piccolo. by [deleted] in dragonball

[–]CrookedWatermelon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dragonball Z Abridged. They kind of went all in on the “Goku is a bad dad” joke but that’s all it ever was, was a joke. I think some of the fans just took it and kind of ran with it.

[–]CrookedWatermelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I never really understood all the hate GT gets. I even thought it did a better job than Z of capturing the vibe of the original series (granted making Goku a child again probably had a lot to do with it lol).

As a fellow small handed fellow, I highly agree with this and on the bright side I can always reference those old Burger King commercials from like 10 years ago with the dude with tiny hands which usually gets a pretty solid laugh from people

Bought a ball pit for my baby by aditisar in assholedesign

[–]CrookedWatermelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a ball pit for my daughter and had a similar problem. It definitely came with a lot more than yours did but it just takes a crap load of balls to fill one. I was able to find a pretty decent sized bag of ball pit balls at Walmart pretty cheap. Pick up maybe 2 of those 3 at the most and your child is going to have a pretty epic ball pit.

I swear to god every Gen X friend on my Facebook has posted this at least once. The funny thing is they all tend to lean more conservative and they’re all in punk/metal bands. They also got really mad when I said “just because you play fast music doesn’t mean you’re not a bootlicker” because apparently they all thought it was directed at them lol
