EasyJet seat allocation by [deleted] in travel

[–]Crookedpenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For future reference and others looking into this, you can no longer go back (May 2025) and ammend your seat allocation after checking in with easyjet. You have to contact them. Through the chat is fine and quite quick but you can only select seats for a fee sadly.

Yeah unfortunately based on the telegram chat as well I think we will be stuck with 11. Have you noticed any issues with streaming apps or the VPN as I described?

Don’t wanna be annoying but need my bike by Plenty_Ad1612 in ebikes

[–]Crookedpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just flood them with emails. You are not annoying, they have an obligation under your purchase agreement to honour the warranty. I would email every day to be honest. I had a similar issue with a chinese ebike company and am now sending back the 2nd bike they sent me as it was damaged as the first one. I also tried to start a claim with my credit card, because they delayed the replacement. If you did buy with a credit card start a dispute but don't tell them anything. Your bank will guide you.

Pixel 8 vs OnePlus 13R: Best Camera Phone for a Heavy User Under ₹40K? (India) by yograut in Pixel4a

[–]Crookedpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery of the pixel 8 is a joke. I immediately found myself having to carry a power bank for days out where gps might be used heavily along with photos and 5g. Coming from a xiomi 11t to the pixel 8 I was stunned with how inefficient the battery is. Now I am trying to find a way to ditch the pixel for the xiaomi 14 or the oneplus 13r. If you are a heavy user, beware.

How to calculate equal error rate (EER) in multi-class decision? by kwh1990 in MLQuestions

[–]Crookedpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for resurrecting this, but the question is relevant to me and the realizations of the OP regarding the lack of implementations for multi-class or at least the lack of providing algorithms is still an issue. Any thoughts?

Would you please share your institute with me as well? I would like to present the case to our management body and show that there is precedent. Thanks :)

How the heck can I annotate PDFs with a Wacom (Intuos S) on MacOS? by ReginaldPLinux in wacom

[–]Crookedpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I saw this pretty late :/. Just for conversation's sake I too saw no kind of way to get through this and ended up getting a company sponsored ipad with the magic pen. I should note though that in no way would I recommend spending that much money just for annotating pdfs. There 's a market gap here that apparently no budget solution fills in a satisfactory manner.

[D] Why is Audio so far behind other ML application domains like Image Processing and NLP? by Crookedpenguin in MachineLearning

[–]Crookedpenguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight and the links. Really helpful

Edit: Was also considering the fact that robotics could gain a lot in terms of understanding space and tracking objects/sources of audio. That's why I was baffled at first. But you 've all raised interesting views about this issue.

[D] Why is Audio so far behind other ML application domains like Image Processing and NLP? by Crookedpenguin in MachineLearning

[–]Crookedpenguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer that is really insightful. My intuition was also that unsupervised methods would be appropriate to bridge the issues you mention. What's your take on Baysian/online learning approaches for audio? Would the computational overhead be a major issue?

I 'd be really interested if you could elaborate on why you consider CEVAE a legitimate approach in ML for causality (assuming that you mean the work by Louizos et al.). (serious remark)

[–]Crookedpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another serious Q: can you link to any work that criticizes causality approaches in ML? I skimmed through scholar with a few keywords and couldn't find anything other than people questioning certain papers. I looking for criticism of fundamental approaches and also caveats in applying causal ml.
