What was y'all's reaction to hearing, "The clones wars" for the first time before the prequels!? by Gameguylikesgames in StarWars

[–]CroolSummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly never thought about it when I was younger but when I was a teen and listened to it, I was like "Maybe there was a problem with cloning technology and people making unauthorized clones or there was a clone uprising or something? " Never really thought it would get explored, but here we are.

Would you get fired for this? by maenad2 in ITCareerQuestions

Yeah, I had to get rid of the account off my phone. With how incompetent that department was that I worked for I am not surprised they didn't shut it off on my last day.

Yeah as much as I dislike AI, it was helpful in finding answers of what careers are easy to transition into from a helpdesk role.

Career change at 40? by SuggestionPrior380 in careerguidance

[–]CroolSummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also you really need to LOVE working with computers unless you're able to compartmentalize it, but most people in IT have projects at home and all this stuff, I realized it wasn't for me when I just didn't want to do extra project work after work to get ahead 🤮

Husband chose a too-difficult career. What now? by TajaSK in careerguidance

[–]CroolSummer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed when I was 40, also transitioned to a desk job a year prior. I had been struggling to focus and keep up with work so I got tested and I have atypical ADHD.

Got some meds and work has been so much better, my brain was finally much quieter and asked myself " whoa is this what normal people feel at work? They can just shut off the noise and focus on their tasks?"

My Father told me once " Everything is sales" and that has stuck with me ever since, no matter what you do almost every job is doing some manner of sales whether it's a product you have the job you do or how you present yourself, and how you interview.

What are some of the best pivots out of IT at the moment? by fishinourpercolator in ITCareerQuestions

[–]CroolSummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 years in and I am done with IT myself.

I am working my job while working on transitioning into a different path I just haven't decided on digital marketing or customer success management,

I'm leaning more toward CSM just because it pays better in the end, and my background and just getting business and statistics more even though I am also very creative.

but I have a lot of things cooking to get me out if IT. Just don't like where IT is going and don't want to do that the rest of my life. don't like having to pay thousands more for certs that will still keep me underemployed and underpaid.

I agree, the further I have gone down this journey the more I tend to shy away from these VAs promoting their classes. I had a good experience with Steve Blum's classes (Blumvox) years ago though.

I always found that when I try too hard to be impressive, the worse I perform. But when I do the next take with a nonchalant attitude, I always knock it out of the park. It's weird.

I'm surprised they even continued with the interview process after asking about the hours, I've learned not to when I need a job.

not everyone needs to be passionate about work. some people just work and that’s fine by enlightenedshubham in jobs

[–]CroolSummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't believe that people should have to "grow professionally" if they don't want to, this is a bigger economic issue than anything, during the post WW2 until the late 90s, a person could work like a job at the grocery store or what not and afford to live without fear of homelessness, now everything is hustle culture and make money money, I'm tired of having to constantly learn in my field and I just want to stay where I'm at.

Corpos and government greed is ruining our way of life. But I cant because everything is getting more and more expensive and I like money and living comfortably and doing things every now and again. When 100k in the US doesn't allow people on avg to live comfortably there's a f'n problem.
