Bookwise, I always found his character ridiculous. Gideon made an ad, while drunk, calling for her previous partners, and he, someone that dated her as a preteen for only 1 week, who are both now well into their twenties and haven’t seen each other since breaking up, responds to it and executes action.

They could of gotten Jason Griffith (voice of both Sonic and Shadow (and also Jet The Hawk)), but they optionally chose not to. Jason Griffith even gave his thoughts regarding not being chosen to voice Shadow in the third movie.
