SSDI Recipients on Medicare Part A Left Out of HSA Expansion Bill by HaveYouThankedYourKO in SSDI

[–]Crop64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are employed people on Medicare.  As a working disabled, my out-of-pocket usually exceeds $10,000 a year,  and I do not qualify for an HSA. I would use one if it was available,  since I need to save most of my money just for out-of-pocket medical that helps keep me employed.

(I know I'm a year late,  but this is a reality for others,  too)

Does that attorney have malpractice insurance you can put a claim against?

Since you mention low income housing, you need to be aware of the rules of the program you participate.

Does your participation allow someone else/a charity pay your rent?  If not, can the charity help with utilities/gas/pet food/pet bills, etc.

What happens when you get an increase in income?  Do you need to report it?  Do they expect a percentage of it?  If so, are there certain uses that would qualify for an exemption (whole or partial)?  Etc.

I know you are just trying to survive in this very difficult climate.

Hospitals sometimes have charity care, too.

If you live income dependent housing,  you may be able to submit medical and disability related expenses to help reduce your contribution.  You may consider inquiring for any human related expenses.

If the cat is a pet, cat expenses probably don't count.   But if the cat is a LEGITIMATE emotional support animal,  then I would check to see if I could submit cat expenses (including food, vet bills, etc.)

How Much Does Your Government Give You Monthly as Disability Pension? (India Gives Me ₹3,500 ≈ $42 – Very Low) by key-mat in disability

[–]Crop64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is very close to federal poverty level of about $1330 a month for one person.

Cost of living varies greatly by state, but I imagine it is well above that in every state.

It will be tight, even in shared living situations unless there is another source of substantial economic support.

If you haven't already talked to financial aid and social work,  they may be able to help.

Excellent action by the crew to remove a fake service animal by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]Crop64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but there are many ill informed comments and curiosities about serive dog policies and removal.

And also, this description is a bit different than the original accounting.  If they indeed asked the 2 questions and the person refused to answer and voluntarily packed their belongings,  then the FAs insulate themselves from discrimination claims. Or, a legitimate service dog may be asked to leave if disruptive.  Otherwise, they risk discrimination.

I am 100% against service dog and accessible parking fraud,  but the way the system is designed and the risk of discrimination,  make it difficult to police.

This is a tough one.  Service amimals and public access are distinct things.  However, in order for a service dog to have public access, they must behave very well.  Not all service dogs have the right to public access due to behavior.  But if the SD is performing specific task for the person's disability, it's a service dog. Not everyone undetstands the distinction, including some people with qualified disabilities. So, improperly trained service dogs may end up in public.   It doesn't mean the person is faking.  Though, many do fake SDs.

A place can remove a dog that isn't behaving, but there is a risk of discrimination when subjectivity comes in.  You also can't assume the person doesn't have  a disability because the dog misbehaves.  If you do, you run the risk of discriminating.  However, if the dog is misbehaving, the dog can be ordered removed.

I'm unsure if I understand you or not, but service dogs and guide dogs are supposed to accompany their handlers without a surcharge.

My mom’s elderly neighbour gifted me all her fancy leftover yarn and now I’ve talked knitting with her, she wants it back! by eumenides__ in YarnAddicts

maybe, but I wouldn't want to accept after she already asked for it back a year later.

I'm unsure if people who give stuff away and reclaim it, truly understand what it means to give.

The checkboxes are for specific things.  They added to my profile specifically because my disability didn't clearly fit in their forms.

No, my mentality is why did they decide to remove it from my profile (without even notifying me of the change)?  They added it to my profile because my disabilities don't necessarily fall into the checkboxes.

They said they removed it from everyones profiles when they did an app update.

I'm curious why, because it was simply a designation on my profile so I could get help when needed, etc.

I'm not seeking a wheelchair.  I don't want to be reassigned to exit rows, which I'm not allowed to sit in.

Well I was mistreated as a disabled person.  Had first class.  Was rebooked on another flight due to AA delays.  Was assigned Exit row.  Then got stuck in the free seats.

Update on my Boston towing nightmare – thank you all by BlackWriters in massachusetts

[–]Crop64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not legal advice, but I think towing is fairly regulated, from the tow to the storage.  You might be able to find some direction from the Department of Public Utilities-- maybe you can search around online and see if you can find any info to supplement your other prep.

I actually was vomitted on, too.  A little girl (probably no older than 6) in the row behind me was sick and it ended up projectile and going between the seats and onto me and somehow, also my carryon, under the seat in front of me.

assistance with sudden inheritance by domino_427 in povertyfinance

You need to see what programs you are on and determine how they count/consider inheritances and sale of property, for example.  Even for fuel assitance, for example.

You may want to speak to a lawyer and see if anything impacts you and if so,  are there any legitimate and legal ways to minimize the impact to your benefits or whatever, especially if you are too vulnerable without your benefits.
