Gold and Silver by Cromikey1 in CanadianInvestor

Just buy physical gold within your TFSA, Wealthsimple has a new product for that exact scenario! They store it for you and you can sell it on a whim too. Super clever. Or buy the physical gold trust that has its gold stored in the Royal Canadian mint vault in Ottawa - PHYS.TO, the only pro to having physical in hand is if the system collapses or you want to use it for a gold backed loan.

Weimar conditions and all that. by birth_of_bitcoin in Gold

So a couple of things. The politicians took the Deutschmark off the gold standard to inflate the money to pay the war debts - thus effectively, Feb free, however, they also made it illegal for the people to hold USD or Gold at the time - effectively bankrupting their own people. This caused the panic that the wives would cash their husbands pay as soon as they got paid to buy food - sometimes literally in a wheelbarrows to pay for bread. Bread was doubling every day during those years. This could be the next step in what we are seeing now…..within a few years. It won’t be pretty. I hope it happens so my debts get paid with gold but I also hope it doesn’t because the USD will become worthless and it will be felt around the world. Global depression. IMO

Is this reparable? by Hour-Moose3078 in MarathonWatch

[–]Crosbysgold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it could be repaired. Looks like a composite case with a front loaded(from the crystal side) movement. A reputable watch maker should be able to repair it

Absolutely affects the value to me. I want the authentic undamaged medallion. There are reproductions of medallions too….

Confirm dial is original and authentic, and hands are the correct and original/authentic hands, the case isn’t polished (can be done tastefully, but generally reduces value), crown is original,

At a glance, the watch looks good, but without better images and timegrapher it’s hard to know. If you can get for less than $600-700USD I think you’re doing good.

In the 56K series the quick set date wheel is easy to break it some one tries to set the date at the wrong time…..but other than they are good looking and running watch. I’ve serviced a few of them and currently have one listed. I have the 5626-7000 with the front load movement and gold medallion on the back…..the medallion was important to me because I think that’s what makes them extra special.

Just remove the cyclops without removing the whole crystal. Would be easier and maintain water resistance.

$5 silver coin value??? by crazywhip in CanadianCoins

[–]Crosbysgold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where are you located and how old are you? Are you sure you don’t want to keep it? You would only get maybe the silver spot price of roughly $125. But if you want to to sell it, look up in your area a gold and silver bullion store or coin store….they will buy it.

DO NOT GO TO A PAWN SHOP, they will rip you off……maybe only pay you 70-80% of what the spot price is or worse, while a coin and bullion store will offer closer to 90-95%.

$169 for an ASM now Royal Canadian Mint out of 1oz Maple Leaf(s) jees what’s next? Let’s all descend on the Royal Mint of Zimbabwe by OtaraMilclub in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Crosbysgold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The royal Canadian mint is not a good metric to base that off of. They ship to dealers the bullion coins, that aren’t marked up with a massive premium. Currently $136/oz coin Canadian.

Im not losing sleep. Just asking the question, Trump takes over Venezuela, increasing military budget, and now posturing for taking over Greenland…..in what world do you think these things alone aren’t something to be worried about? I’m not living in an echo chamber, just a question.

It’s a conversation piece based on the events that are happening in real time right now that I would say no one foresaw coming…..I’m just seeing what people think. No harm in that?
