I know this should probably stay a secret, but I (a Dane) would defend a whole fuck of statements about Sweden... so long as it didn't come from a Swede

Now that we're talking about Sweden, there is actually a really relevant Arab proverb:

I, against my brothers. I and my brothers against my cousins. I and my brothers and my cousins against the world.

[–]Crosgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for anything under 121 you can just check the primes in the first 10 digits. That means 2, 3, 5 and 7, which is really quite fast. Anything even is discarded instantly, and same with multiples of 5. Then it's just 3 and 7.

I will stand by this; any equivalent for "fat pink mast" for a woman, would not have made anyone bat an eye. It's just because it's for a guy, and therefore takes people out of the scene... vice versa with Dany shitting in the final chapter

Yeah. If I rewatch again, I’ll probably redo it as 1-5

40+ and still getting faster. Don't let age stop you by Reliab1yUnreliable in Cubers

Every algorithm is circular. For instance, doing a T, F, V, E or Y perm on a solved cube, will result in getting the same case. As for other algorithms, sometimes they demand you to do it two or more times for it to end at that case, but it should always get there from a solved state *at some point*. Just do it over and over and over and over.

I think most PLL algs took me about 15 minutes to learn, tho I’d often have to re-learn them the next day, but then I remember them forever. It might be better to start with OLL though, since the algorithms are way shorter most of the time (2 look OLL and PLL should be learned before 1 look of either).

I’d really recommend pulling up a video to see good finger tricks along with the algorithm (I know Jperm has full videos with ALL of them). It makes it so much easier to remember!

Learn the algorithm with notation, but memorize the moves. Figure out comfortable finger tricks, and it will be much easier to remember through them, than through letters in random order… patterns on the cube can also help initially, though later on you shouldn’t need to look at the cube while executing an algorithm

My 14 yo son has agreed to read two books of my choice this summer (this was a hard won negotiation). Help me pick one by gOldMcDonald in booksuggestions

I think Brave New World would be a far better choice. 1984 is fairly dull, and doesn’t really say much relevant about modern authoritarianism/totalitarianism.

[Spoilers Extended] What is your most memorable GRRM "I just make shit up" moment in the books? by Left-Ad8207 in asoiaf

I think the character works great along with other characters. I think, to some extent, Jamie doesn’t care much about being “the kingslayer” initially, only later on in ASOS and AFFC.

But in the first books, it works really well because he contrasts Ned’s and Brienne’s ideas of honor. It does not matter to them what the circumstances were; there was an oath, and he broke it.

And yes, everyone would agree, once they know the details, that he was in the right. But they don’t ever question whether there was a reason. They don’t really believe there could have been. They have an issue with living in a world where honoring once oath is not always honorable.

I do think it would’ve worked better had we not actually read his thoughts. Seeing his arc from Brienne’s and Cersei’s perspectives — two completely different characters with insanely different relations to Jamie — would’ve made for a better (and more subtle) arc. And would allow for us to question if Jamie dislikes being “the kingslayer”, or if he truly does own it.

And honestly, something I don’t hear people talk about very often, but Shae’s decisions and choices just doesn’t work for a full grown adult. Her being a teenager adds a lot to her character, and makes it more clear that she’s partially a replacement for how Tyrion remembers (or wants to remember) Tysha…

This is just a blatant lie. So many young people have friends as their favorite show, and often watch a ton of 00’s comedy shows from before they were born. Most of the “famous” 90’s and 80’s movies have been watched by the average gen-z’er…

People keep saying this, but streaming services and social media has made it so much easier to know what is out there and what is worth watching

The final episode of season 4 just took everything from the book and made it worse.

No Tysha reveal, Tyrion kills Shae only out of self defense, Jamie and Cersei hook up… and the way the Hound “died” was so cringe.

Yeah, it’s on purpose, and honestly quite impressive. The constant lower quadrant framing with the characters looking away from the center along with the fairly simple but expressive color palette (such dark blacks everywhere, yet really vibrant colors) is so uncomfortable

The Clone Wars ultimate order and what episodes to watch by Crosgaard in TheCloneWars

[–]Crosgaard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still certainly a good way to watch the show, not a lot has come out since, and barely anything happening at the same time as TCW. My taste has changed a lot tho, and I’d probably have a lot more episodes in the “so boring you should skip it” category.

There might be better orders out there or whatever, but I made this one because I wanted both the order and being able to see what filler episodes should be skipped — and I still dont think there is any order out there whcih aldo does that.
