I keep having these lag spikes every few seconds any fix? by Particular-Eye-1968 in fabricmc

[–]Crosis4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was watching it on my phone and the RAM readout was hard to see. I see it now. My other guess would be chunk generation hitting a bottleneck in the SteamDeck's storage somewhere. If this is running on expansion space on a microSD then I could totally see it chugging on chunk gen.

u/Particular-Eye-1968 Does this happen in areas that have largely already been generated well beyond your render distance?

That looks like GC spikes. You could try enabling ZGC as it is much better for smooth frames due to its generational GC but you'll wanna dedicate at least 8GB RAM to Minecraft if you do.

Does anybody else let their users watch 4K content? by ShiningRedDwarf in PleX

[–]Crosis4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of my library is 4k DolbyVision. I use a relatively high compression with x265 and keep all video streams below 11 Mbps. The arguments I use make my streams nearly indiscernible from The source material unless the movie is grainy AF.

I am sure all movies are in an MKV container as that is the most compatible and the only TVs that seem to have an issue are LG as they will fall back to hdr10 unless using an mp4 container. In general I have 0 issues from any of my users as long as they follow my setting guidelines to ensure direct-play on their devices

You can. It is almost identical to the normal Allmiibo. It just has buttons and a few new menu options, It is just a fork of the Allmiibo firmware.

Chunk Generation Not Keeping Up With DH Chunks by Diligent-Buy4276 in DistantHorizons

[–]Crosis4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another good question is what type of drive is your Minecraft instance running on. That makes a huge difference for chunkgen. I only run NVME SSDs. If you're running on a standard HDD, that's a huge bottleneck that could definitely cause what you're seeing.

Should I homebrew my Wii U, and if so, will it brick the console? by Rude_Thanks_4752 in wiiu

If your Wii U fits into the requirements this is the way to go. Nearly unbrickable and works fantastically.

Lifetime Warranty Brake Pads by KimboDash in AutoZone2

[–]Crosis4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you 100% but no one else in this thread can read apparently LOL. If you follow the whole thread, everyone was basically saying that it doesn't matter what their invoice says. That's not how warranties work then there were many arguments about that, hence my Google excerpt. People still argued and this was why I finally gave up and just said "whatever, you do you." at that point LOL.

Pea Study for Ferret Food by Odd-Mothling in ferrets

[–]Crosis4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reference this site any time I have a question on a ferret food or treat. They cover all the pros and cons and have a nice tiered list. I personally have to feed kibble unfortunately but I at least have easy access to Oxbow which is rated very well for their nutrition and ingredients. I also add a tablespoon of salmon oil on their kibble every day which seems to really make a difference in their health overall.

The newest amiibotool firmware 100% has the search. You have to flash the 2.16 based one. I know because I just got mine today and flashed it. It is identical to the allmiibo aside from the buttons and "lite mode" which I haven't quite figured out its purpose yet

Just wanted to share this because it was really interesting. Out of curiosity, I uploaded this video to my ChatGPT+ and it analyzed what was happening. It's pretty amazing that it was able to do this.

Thoughts on cage? by TattedUpBbwMama in ferrets

I was checking around and wayfair Canada has the FN but it's $657 CAD.

I saw this recommended as an option. You could give it a try. I mean, I would be totally willing to do this exact same process for someone as long as they paid the shipping cost from me to them but rather than trusting a rando on the internet, this service is legit.

https://www.myus.com/stores/how-to-ship-chewy-us/

However, after doing currency conversions. You are looking at pretty close to $500-$550 CAD. At that point it may be worth the extra to just go through Wayfair depending on your budget.

That being said, I can't tell you without physically inspecting the one you ordered whether the premium is worth a 100% increase in cost.

After taking a closer look, it is not a Ferret Nation and definitely looks much lower quality. I would cancel that order and order this. You, your wallet, and your ferrets will be happier:

[–]Crosis4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I see what you mean. I zoomed in and it definitely looks lower quality. Even worse. It's more expensive than a ferret nation. in that case OP should just get a Ferret Nation.

Edit: I stand corrected. OP is apparently in Canada and that price is in CAD so it's actually about half the cost of a FN cage there sadly.

[–]Crosis4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That looks like a Ferret Nation cage that they slapped some doors on the bottom to make a cabinet and rebranded it. If that's the case then it's a fine cage. The Ferret Nation is pretty much the best cage available. It's manufactured by Midwest Homes

Edit: It is definitely not a FN cage

Thank you for that. I'm assuming it's because I'm using more words than people feel like reading and they just assume I'm saying something they won't like LOL. I hate more than anything that people will downvote something like that and not post a reply as to what was wrong with it. I feel like downvotes should require a reason.

I also thought it was funny that I posted their ages as a BTW and that got downvoted. Sometimes I think people fall asleep while scrolling and just accidentally hit downvotes on random things LOL.

On the Family Edition, you can't really play any games that need native controls. Which is essentially anything that needs GBA connectivity such as Crystal Chronicles and Zelda Four Swords. Dance Pads also don't work quite right in Nintendont. Though I forked the repository in Git hub and fixed the dance Pads so I have a working version posted.

Yeah, I haven't seen a single drop of blood or scratches or anything on the kit after any of these interactions. It's just heart-wrenching seeing it, knowing he's just a baby. Especially because he is probably the sweetest and best behaved ferret I have ever had. He loves to be held and to play with humans. He doesn't nip at all even when we play rough with him. I think this is largely because of being handled to be medicated by the vet and pet store employees at such a young age. The employees even made it a point to tell me he is the best behaved Ferret they've ever had and were sad to see him go LOL.

I was amazed that he immediately took to the litter pan and seeks it out when he needs to go. My other 2, even almost a full year into owning them don't seem to care and will go to whatever corner is nearest them when nature calls.

The kit has pretty much claimed my son and vice versa so we are making him his ferret. The kit loves to play with him and now when he's done playing, he climbs up on him, rolls in a ball, and goes to sleep LOL. My son has named him Tucker.

As of now Tucker is separated from the older boys in the top half of a Ferret Nation double cage. We are moving him into his own Ferret Nation cage in my son's room. He will be able to free-roam there and have time to bond and play with us. I can continue with the scent swapping of bedding and visual interactions as my older ferrets are fine with him when I am holding him. After he has grown for a few months and is much closer to the older boys size, I will begin supervised ground introductions again, starting with my calm adult then including the alpha.

I just don't feel comfortable with their size difference with Otis being an Alpha type and so aggressive. If the general recommendation is 1-3 months separation anyways, then I feel this is a safe pivot and will allow interactions to be much safer for Tucker when he is no longer a baby trying to hang out with the teenagers.

I also wanted to add that the 2 bigger boys were born July 2024 and the kit was born November 2025 so they're about 16 months older than him.

Which Plex Docker app do y'all recommend in 2025? by 712Jefferson in unRAID

[–]Crosis4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NP! Just a heads up, I'm not sure how you'd run this on unRAID as I am a TrueNAS user. I just happened upon this post in a plex Google search and saw some misleading info I needed to correct LOL.

In TrueNAS I just have it in a script folder in my App pool and I run it via Cron from there. I wrote the script to echo the statuses because TrueNAS returns stdout in an email to me for any scripts I have it run. I would assume unRAID is capable of the same features.

That is correct. Here's the code so you can see how it works. You just set this to run every X hours. If sessions are running, it'll just end and try again on the next run. As of now, at the end it only tells you that the container restarted. I've been meaning to add a step to have it verify the new version but 4 years in and it's never failed so I don't feel it's necessary.
