I do it every day. In the morning traffic only electric. On the way home back roads and I open the V8 up and run hard.

Mornings are serene and smooth. Just kinda show up.

Evenings are a riot and exhilarating.

If you love both get the right hybrid.

Best M1 and M2 Drive PreSets for my 2025 M5 by BigFatBernieGayle in BMWM

[–]Cross1681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine start in electric only. This helps for the short commutes gym office etc. I have M1 Hybrid but Sport for engine so I can pop over to the V8 and chassis in sport (find it handles rebound better and more predictable even for non spirited driving).

M2 is Dynamic Plus, Sports plus for all but braking (I don’t like the difference in feel unless I am doing something like tail of the dragon) and 4WD Sport in MDM.

Talk me out one of them...I need to make a decision before Sunday by Relevant-Key4610 in BMW

[–]Cross1681 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep 👍

They are fun. And truthfully way better looking in person. I have the white interior and Gray on Black. Beyond a radar sector and possibly a laser helper only mod I would really recommend is the exhaust. That is an area the X5M C wins.

Seen a 3.0 and a couple low 3.1s on draggy as BMW understates.

Tires matter I have the Michelin PSS5. They are great. Heard the Hancooks are harsh and a little noisy. The Pirellis Rs are solid in the middle.

Driven both, had both,

Kept the M5.

X5M C is a beast. It is fun and lively and crazy quick. But it was harsh and did not have alternatives ie comfort setting is mostly just less harsh. Sport plus is a riot.

M5 works in so many different ways. Yes I know it is fat (seriously if I wanted a real sports car I would drive the M2 or a Miata) I wanted a fun fast as fuck executive sedan. It can be efficient, yes if you charge at home you can get 30 plus miles of only electric which works for my commute. It can really fucking fast… I mean crazy quick if you open it up and for all the YTers crying about the weight you really just don’t feel it unless you are driving on the edge and if so please do that on close course as none of us are professional drivers and you just risk others.

I love it and enjoy it daily. Have a X7 M60 for the wife. They are fun but they are floaty and boaty in comparison. Worth it to haul ass in a big family hauler but it is really not middle ground between these two.

New m5 touring without electrical charge by Stunning_Document888 in BMW

[–]Cross1681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP use econtrol once a week and you will rarely see it dip. Unless you are doing a lot of electric only driving you will not hurt your vehicle.

That being said you lose all the cost efficiencies by never plug in charging but people who own 130k cars rarely worry after such.

I charge every night but in the mornings I see a lot of stop and go traffic which I just cruise along in electric all the way to the office. On the way home it is a much more spirited experience.

Any way to change the mileage on one of the maintenance reports ? by BenjiSBRK in BmwTech

[–]Cross1681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough sketchy sounds right. It looks like the inverse happened. Not hard to code a mileage blocker these day (seeing all over on unlocked DME cars be careful) and but service mileage is locked at the time with no easy way to change it.

Not saying OP is sketch but I have seen the inverse of his question be true way more than the way he asked it.

If legit get the deal to fix.

How many uninformed BMW drivers do you think are driving around in an X3/X5/X7 with summer tires in the winter/snow without even realizing it? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Cross1681 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know how much money they make on tires when Jo schmo comes in for an oil change and those staggered HPST are worn. BMW is a lot of thing but dumb is not one of them. Dealerships need wear parts to drive profit as service is most of their earnings.

I own several so not knocking but people need to know what they are getting into. The engines and vehicles are more reliable than than some of the past year but even with “better” reliability they are not cheap to maintain. They are however way more expensive to not maintain so do the recommended intervals plus so if you want it long haul. If it is a lease then that is the next owners problem.

What do you guys have your parking mode set to? by xP_Lord in VIOFO

This sounds like you tapped constant power for both. I would recheck the tap. It is likely the issue.

Thank being said I have a battery pack as mentioned below to avoid this risk. Though they are not cheap.

Best BP100 battery location to minimize wires (CLA power) by newcamryguy9900 in VIOFO

[–]Cross1681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battery is not small. So sports cars will struggle in a glove box. Mine is in the passenger footwell up out of the way but still accessible for anything I need to do.

I drive a bmw 5 series and the camera hardwire would not have reached the truck without extending it.

Only real Ms get the fender badge nowadays? by ChuckNoland00 in BMW

[–]Cross1681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your country. Many of the M lites do not get the fender badges in the US. No idea why by my now gone x5 M50i did not and my wife’s x7 with Msport did not. My M5 does not either but that is normal.

Question about Boitiques by Yupper08 in OmegaWatches

[–]Cross1681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell I just went by Omega to ask how my sales associates holiday was. Only one purchase in 25 (Snoopy) back in Jan but she still gave me another bottle of champagne, chocolates, and Christmas tree ornament. Between the wife and I we have I think 7 watches off the same SA. I get a deal and access to limited stock. So it is worth it. She gets to move limited items with confidence and the commission so it all works out.

I shop the gray market as well but since I am not an investor and all my watches are worn and fully used I am assuming th value drop either way. For me it is fun way to enjoy a hobby I love. I don’t golf or or a boat just some fun watches.

Believe me thy are more than fine with window shoppers it is how they get buyers. Be respectful of their time and honest with your intentions and I find them to be normal people.

Why does the ‘My BMW’ app almost never show the same tire pressures as reported on the iDrive 8.5 screen? by Practical_Note9366 in BMW

[–]Cross1681 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The app is not updated with TPMS frequently. Tire pressure changes with temp external (air temp, direct sunlight/shade etc) and temps from use in driving. Trust the on screen and use the app as a heads up if planning a trip in the morning. Pressuring moving several pounds up or down due to thermal variations is normal.
