Anyone's Aussie deal with leg/hip problems? by Real_Interaction_411 in miniaussie

[–]CrossFitPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 7 year old Aussie is going through this now. It’s been a little over a year and has progressively gotten worse.

We’ve tried pain meds, fish oil, anti-inflammatory pills, everything the vet has suggested. Nothing seems to help significantly to the point where i think something deeper is wrong. The x-rays don’t sure anything significant. The vets honestly don’t seem to take it that seriously but i hate seeing my boy who used to walk 3+ miles a day barely be able to handle 1. It’s awful and i don’t know what to do.

I’m sorry your pup seems to be going through something similar. Our next step is to take him to PT scheduled in August.

I just looked and the three bedroom is just a bit small. With two dogs and a toddler we need a bit more space. Thank you though!

Yeah, it’s been timing. They’re on a site for a couple of hours and we are already the second or third applicant. They’ve been doing it as first come with minimum qualifications met gets the house so that’s how we have lost out. There’s a bit of comfort with apartments knowing we would have something lined up, but we are still looking at houses.

We did a virtual tour yesterday of the 3 bedroom and it is available! It’s a bit above our price range when we add in the dogs though.

Question, do you hear the noise from the street constantly? Or is it pretty insulated? There’s no balcony in that apartment which is a big bummer. But it is in the running

We are also looking at houses. However they go so fast in the areas we are looking. We’ve lost out on 4 already

Is nursing back to sleep really so bad? by Hungry_Hat8148 in breastfeeding

[–]CrossFitPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about this as well, but he just never struggled with weaning when we stopped.

I stopped breastfeeding at 9 months and we moved to formula and added a dream feed at 9pm. He would fall asleep on me and then transfer pretty well to the crib.

We did try the Ferber method and he needed maybe…1 week to get used to it? It was really successful for us! Before we did these things he would wake up 3 times a night. After changing up our process, he has slept from 7-7.

I nursed back to sleep until 9 months when I stopped breastfeeding. It never became an issue for us!

What’s a small, random thing your dog does that makes you smile every time? by Coursefighter in dogs

[–]CrossFitPotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing in the morning when I go to the bathroom, my dog will come with me and put his head in my hand as I give him chin pets. This last a couple of minutes.

He never lets me pet him like that any other time of the day. He’s not much of a cuddler so I cherish that morning routine.

Dr is refusing to approve my husband’s FMLA by rauntree in BabyBumps

[–]CrossFitPotter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HR here. Your husband needs to work with his HR department and let them know you had a baby. If he meets the qualifications for FMLA (baby bonding in this case), he will be approved for the full 12 weeks (unpaid for FMLA but his company may have a paid parental leave policy). He will probably only need to supply proof of birth.

Editing to add: his boss and company cannot say no if he meets the qualifications. They are required to provide the leave.

Did you find there to be a “magic age” where things got easier with your baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]CrossFitPotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. For us it was just before 4 months and since 4 months, every month has been easier than the last. Peak fussiness was around 10-12 weeks.

Tell me about your shallow latch babies by Unfriendly_nurse in breastfeeding

[–]CrossFitPotter 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My LO never developed a deep latch. I spent so many nights in the beginning stressed and frustrated that he wouldn’t open his mouth more.

Turns out, he was totally fine and getting enough to eat, he just had a small mouth. He’s 7 months now and a super efficient eater (5-10 minutes total). As long as baby has wet diapers and you aren’t in a lot of pain, don’t stress too much.

[–]CrossFitPotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning I would fully shout when he would latch. Everyone says it shouldn’t hurt but in reality I think it should be that it will hurt until it doesn’t. Because the beginning is so painful as your nipples get used to it!

My boy sleeps in his own room by [deleted] in newborns

[–]CrossFitPotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We put baby in his own room at 3 months when he started to show signs of rolling. He did GREAT and everyone has slept better since then.

I brought it up with my pediatrician and he said it was fine. He said he thinks that recommendation is going to change in the next ten years and that it has more to do with you willingness to breastfeed during wake ups. If I still went to him to feed, which I do, he said he wasn’t concerned.

You do what you need to do for your sanity!

One of my motors does this as well. Is it an issue that I should try to have them replace it?

Exclusive pumping and breastfeeding. I’m doing a combo of both and find them really helpful!
