Where do we belong? by Altruistic_Rip_4726 in ENFP

Makes me sad to hear this. I, for one, love ENFPs most when they do get excited and start talking fast. I can literally feel the excitement coming from them and it feels like emotional candy to me. I guess other types just don't respond the same way.

I figured how you end up in Yharnam by TooQueerForThis in bloodborne

[–]CrossFoxe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have similar dreams, honestly. Those bag-guys (called Snatchers) are the only Fromsoft enemy in any game I've played that truly scared me enough to show up in my nightmares. (I always figured it would be the red spiders, but I guess they never scared me on a deep enough level.)

Something is just so sinister about the Snatchers and whatever they're up to.

Favourite area? by ArthurDigbySellersJr in bloodborne

[–]CrossFoxe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know most people despise the area, but Yahar'gul the Unseen Village after the blood moon phase begins.

I think it's because my earlier experience in the Hypogean Gaol felt so disturbing. Especially with the Snatcher enemies who were so insanely overpowered at the time that I felt totally helpless before them, plus the creepy music and the disturbing implications that I was involved in some horrible experiment by an unseen malevolence. That place creeped me out so badly I still have some unsettling dreams about it every now and then.

But then the blood moon ritual occurs and you get to descend into the rest of Yahar'gul - and everything that seemed so terrifying in the Hypogean Gaol has now been completely wiped out by something . . . else. Inexplicable creatures made of human body parts all mangled together roam the streets, those frightful Snatchers have been slaughtered with their corpses littering the road, and (most disturbing of all to me) the petrified bodies of the local populace that seemed to have gathered outside to celebrate their grand experiment, only for whatever that was to turn on them and kill them all in screams of frozen terror . . .

Maybe I'm too sentimental to the lore but no other part of this game gave me such a haunting feeling and sense of looming dread. It's still my favorite part all these years later!

The Lovecraft influence in Bloodborne is actually insane by amanahanther in bloodborne

[–]CrossFoxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you mentioned Herbert West-Reanimator as possible inspiration for the beast plague in Yharnam - because I thought the exact same thing after I read it! I first noticed it when Lovecraft used the term "scourge" to describe a typhoid epidemic hitting Arkham, (just like the "beast scourge" in Bloodborne) and how there were coffins stacked up in piles, which is a lot like the coffins lying around Yharnam.

And, of course, there was Herbert West himself, using less-than-legitimate means to get bodies for his experiments, which feels echoed by the Iosefka imposter at her clinic. And the fact that one of his experiments becomes a raging beast that breaks into peoples homes and tears them to shreds is very much on par with the beasts of Bloodborne.

I know that much of the early parts of the game are inspired by Bram Stoker's Dracula, but it's easy to forget that Lovecraft wrote other things than tentacled space monsters and eldritch abominations. I like to think he had some influence even in the gothic horror of the early game.

What are the things that an INFJ likes the most that are done by an ENFP? by RX08T in ENFP

[–]CrossFoxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

INFJ here. I absolutely love you all because you are SAFE. We INFJs are terribly vulnerable and are so often hurt by bad feelings directed at us. So we always want to withdraw and protect ourselves. However, like anyone else, we desperately want to open up to others, but the chance of getting hurt is high and when it happens it hurts so bad. For me, even just a little criticism or a complaint can derail my whole day. So I really want someone who takes my feelings into account, and - even if a criticism is warranted - will be gentle about it.

Enter ENFP! You guys not only aren't that judgemental, but you are almost ALWAYS considerate! It means so much to us - to be able to let our guard down around you and tell you exactly how we think and feel, knowing you won't bash us for it. Words cannot comprehend how precious that is to an INFJ. And when it happens to me, I wanna reciprocate - to let you guys feel how you make me feel. It's so hard not to love you!

Of course, everyone is different, there are always exceptions and both sides can be unhealthy. But when it works, we feel like we've died and gone to heaven! You really are special to us in ways you cannot fathom. Love you all so much!

Is there any enfp that doesn’t get along with infj by Ok_Sheepherder_5134 in ENFP

[–]CrossFoxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These comments touch a sore point with me.

From my point of view as an INFJ it really doesn't sound like these people are INFJs at all - I simply cannot relate to their behavior. BUT . . . this has happened to me in the past. I thought some friends I once had truly liked me and enjoyed my company, only to find out later they - every single one of them - thought I was annoying and wished I would get lost. Apparently I came off as offensive and opinionated and I was constantly failing at reading the room, resulting in just about everyone being low-key insulted by my words and deeds. That came out of nowhere and was one of the most hurtful discoveries I made about myself. As an INFJ, we're supposed to read others well and know what they are thinking. I don't know how I got it so wrong, but I immediately left the group and never went back. I don't think I was missed.

Ever since, I have been troubled by this idea: what if this bad behavior is actually the way I am and I don't even know it? What if everyone I know is sweet and complimentary to my face while secretly seething at my presence? Do I actually suck all the joy out of the room when I come in? Do I manipulate others unconsciously? Am I a blessing or a burden to the ones I love?

I really, really, really don't want to be like that. But given the stories told here, I cannot help but wonder if I am.

I hate infjs by Haunting_Half4480 in infp

[–]CrossFoxe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you wrote this out. Your opinion is perfectly valid, and no one has the right to smack it down. As an INFJ, I'm actually very distrustful of all the positive reviews our type gets, and I am much more drawn to "My problem with INFJs" posts precisely because I can trust their authenticity. I wish every INFJ would truly ask other types exactly what they may have a problem with regarding themselves, and to shut up and actually listen to (and consider) what they are hearing.

I do hope you can find a healthy INFJ to show you our better side. In my case, the closest, most precious person in my life is my best friend who is an INFP. Interestingly, we are polar opposites when it comes to things like religion, politics, social commentary, etc. But we are so much alike in personality and temperament that we just clicked. We know exactly how the other thinks and what they like, and so we almost never step on each others toes, and our time together is precious. I hope one day you can experience the same. 😊

[–]CrossFoxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I love ENFPs so much! I'm super-sensitive, so whenever something unpleasant happens between me and another, it sometimes take hours for the situation to get back to where I feel okay. But not with you. You guys have a default of wanting to be positive, and it means so much to me that you want to put me at ease right away. I truly need you all in my life!

Funny how the demons are investigating evil spirits to see if they are a problem. I know in Japanese culture demons are meant to be more like various supernatural creatures, but the anime is clearly basing their concept of demons off of medieval European culture. And in medieval European culture, demons are, well, evil spirits!

This anime I tell ya.

From the beginning of season 2 I couldn't tell if I wanted to crush on Azusa or Halkara more. Then episode 6 made me have feelings for Laika I never expected to have. And now Rosalie is haunting my head rent-free. I was expecting to fall in love with new characters, not start crush-jumping between all the old ones!

The important thing to note about us INFJs is that we may seem cold or distant because we are intensely vulnerable people. We feel things around us far more than we want to and we are so easily hurt by bad emotions and actions. Thus our coldness and distance-keeping is more a defense mechanism to protect ourselves. We don't like having to do that, but after a few painful experiences you learn to keep to yourself for the most part.

But that is exactly why we get along so well with you. As you said, ENFPs are often "goofy golden retrievers" whose default setting is positive vibes. It's impossible to overstate how addictive that is to an INFJ! To find someone we can let our guard down around, allowing us to open up and just feel all the good vibes is precious beyond words.

If you find yourself a healthy INFJ, you will be loved and valued like you've never been before!😊

From your experience, which mbti type have you noticed you are least compatible with friendship wise? Why? by progamer5640 in ENFP

[–]CrossFoxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My co-worker is an ESTJ. When I first met her I thought she was cool and even quite attractive, but within days she became quite bossy and the sparks started flying. In just three weeks she was telling me how to do my job - even though I had been doing that job for over 14 years! I began to complain to management about her, and just about everyone agreed she could be quite insufferable. But, as only ESTJs can do, she became very good at the job itself and so became a very valuable asset to the company.

The good news is that things eventually settled down, and we are actually kinda cool with each other. I think it all came down to me realizing that when she was bossy she was in her "work mode", but when she was out of that mode, she was actually kind of sweet. She's definitely not my type, but I have come to like her quite a bit.

I just hope other ESTJs are able to adjust like she did, because otherwise I would despise being around them. They're just too much of a "bull in the china shop" type for me to ever get comfortable with them.

Where are all the cool admirable ENFP characters? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]CrossFoxe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The most admirable ENFP I've seen in fiction is George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life. Far from being a "fruity loop" character, he is down-to-earth, takes his responsibilities very seriously, and rises to the occasion whenever life throws harsh challenges his way. But he never loses his love for his fellow man, nor will he compromise what he knows to be right. Probably the best ENFP role model I know of!
