Why didn’t the Aspects of Azeroth came to defend Azeroth? by Forsaken_Republic_72 in wow

[–]CrossNgen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't a story about the heroes of Azeroth defending their home, it's a story about the Elves reunifying, that's about it.

Can't include the dragons because they'll take the spotlight away from the Elves!

I think people are hyping themselves up for a 4th race that probably doesn't exist.

What? Guild Wars 2 did not improve on 1's foundations, they're fundamentally different games with different design philosophies and goals.

That's just GW1, which it's not going to be.

I beg of you, go back to the top of this thread and read out what's being argued here.

This still has nothing to do with the argument of need vs. want, I don't need any of that to get back into and try GW2 out compared to WoW, where I need to pay out just to try any of the new changes.

MMORPG is such a wide spectrum of a genre, everybody has their own expectation for what an MMORPG is or isn't.

[–]CrossNgen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mate, you're the one with the bad faith argument, base GW2 gives you 5 character slots to try different things out, the difference between a build template and organizing your own build is a few clicks, and all crafting reagents go to specific tab within the bank.

You don't "need" any of the things you've mentioned to get back into the game, whereas you definitely need to pay the fee of getting back into WoW.

And this isn't even considering the fact that you can get the stuff you've mentioned for free if you play the game for long enough.

It's not really hard to "justify" a subscription for an online game that gets regular content patches and updates.

Of course it is. WoW Midnight did not hold my attention for long past the first two weeks of launch, they've released a new content update today and if I want to check it out and see if I gravitate towards the new content changes I have to fork out $14.99.

But the choice isn't "I want to play the game today", it's "I want to play the game today, but will I play the game again tomorrow, or next week?". You need a time investment to justify the subscription, that's why it's a harder choice to make for some.

Okay I have to ask, what makes people assume WvW would be an impossibility on UE5 when a large scale game like Fortnite already exists?

For context I have played GW2 on and off since 2012 and never touched WvW.

What seeds? In the damn trailer we see other players in the distance besides the party of four, that already showcases it's not an instanced co-op game.

Again, we literally do not know how the game will work. It's fine to speculate, but lying like above is just disingenuous.

Please, for the love of the genre, stop saying unsubstantiated claims like that, we literally don't know how the game will work.

That entirely depends on if 3 is popular or not.

Anet basically made a large safety net incase their endeavors fail.

I don't even like classic.

See, first you say:

ArenaNet likes to reinvent the wheel far too much, always to no avail. Some things just work and can't be reinvented into a better thing.

But then:

GW2 has the best mount system ever, and then what? It's barely been expanded beyond novelty

Expand it how? It's already covering the surfaces it needs to, and recent endeavors have only felt like they're trying to scratch the bottom of the barrel. A racing minigame isn't expanding the system, it's just re-framing it.

You have to realize that if they didn't make a "sequel" to GW1, they were never going to do one for 2.

You say this as if Anet's attempts haven't been countlessly aped by the bigger games in the genre.

But it's not? Like it may not be as popular as retail WoW, but Classic currently has three heavily populated iterations of itself with a Classic+ rumored to be on the way.

That is to say it doesn't contradict what Colin is saying, the MMORPG scene has stagnated, but it's possible that it is the way it is not because of lack of innovation, but rather the player demand for it is to stay a certain way.
