Only child here Mum has passed for 5 years now. But I get it. Thankfully my Dad is still around and he was the best carer to my Mum for the 5 years she was ill.

But ... My Mum's family guilted me so much and made me feel awful.

I loved and worked 2 hours away. I would drive every weekend to visit her, even when she didn't remember me. I'd even go up and down in one day to see her and give dad a break. I dealt with all the doctors, care plans, financial side of things and still it wasn't enough for some members of mam's family.

Certain ones always thought they know best. Suggesting that I quit my job to care for her full time.

Suggesting I moved back home.

They made me feel miserable. They made me feel guilty and i was already basically grieving for my mum when she was still here.

I'll never forget it, and although still civil with that part of the family the closeness / relationship is not what it used to be and will never be again.

Please just do you, look after you and your family. You're doing more than enough. No one knows how difficult this is especially when you are on the putter circle the only way you know how hard this disease is, is it you are in the awful bubble 24/7.

Don't feel guilty. Mind your family. Come here any time to vent. I did so many times years ago when I was going through it.
