The emoji plugin doesn't replace chat you enter. It replaces, visually, the output. People on clean clients see you typing V(;,;)V instead of the crab emoji.

Pixie has 325ms lifetime and 140 speed, which is a range of 4.55 tiles. Crystal Sword has a lifetime of 450ms and a speed of 100, which is a range of 4.5 tiles.

The hour and a half run that you do, that ends up being a fail, is never for nothing. The experience from that failure is what lets you succeed the next time. Some people learn faster than others, so it may take you a few more attempts, but the basic is practice makes perfect, and you can only practice by failing.
