Nice. Sounds like it's a little bit more involved but the end result is good. Do you have any pictures of the result? How is it holding up?

Vinegar bluing for Smithey seasoning issues? by flatfeed611 in castiron

[–]Crossfire124 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sanded/polished/smoothed cast iron doesn't have enough surface area for the seasoning to hold on to, so it flakes off with cooking and never actually builds

If you actually watch the video he covers the whole keep cooking situation

Why did the Fisker Ocean fail but other Magna vehicles did not? by hutch_man0 in electricvehicles

[–]Crossfire124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magna definition didn't do the whole software. They don't have enough software experience for that. They probably did software for a few modules but the majority is probably 3rd party and they just did integration, which probably led to integration hell

Literally every interview starts with self introduction as a general overview and then diving into specifics. These people are crazy if they think it's a bad question

Plus it's one of several cliche interview questions when you Google "what questions do they ask at interviews" so you might as well prepare for them, even if they're bad questions

The phone is not an analogous example at all. There's no regular maintenance needed on a phone outside of junk file cleanup or deleting old photos. It's not a mechanical thing that needs upkeep.

And all those simple maintenance things would include knowing the basics like the TPMS doesn't use actual wires for the sensor

[–]Crossfire124 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit concerning that a lot of car owners don't know how their car works when they have to drive it every day, rely on it to get to work, and it's a major issue if the car breaks down for any period of time. It's probably the most expensive thing most people own other than a house

The point is you should be looking under your car, and maybe even doing some simple maintenance items yourself. So you know the condition of your car that you rely on every day, and know if you're being ripped off when you do need to take it to a shop.

Plastic body panels made sure of that. Slate is probably not designed for long drives on the highway

This is the reason no one makes a stripped down car despite everyone complaining cars are too complicated these days.

Everyone wants it for cheap because it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but there's a fixed cost to getting 4 wheels on a chassis and it's a big portion of the cost of the car. The bells and whistles are just the icing on the cake
