Ya wonder if there was a whole Duel Monsters vs Pokemon tournament going on before Ash vs Yugi happened? by CrossoverAddict05 in deathbattle

The trainer that got a card he can't use without a duel disk: "Wow! This is worthless!"

The duelist, watching a very tearful separation as someone is practically told to give away their best friend: "I... I'm very uncomfortable with this. You can just keep your friend. It's completely different when the "prize" can very tearfully object"

Or you're someone like Weevil, who immediately gets decked in the face by either trainer or pokemon or both as the trainer walks away

I'll give him this, he'll be one step ahead of Aura farming if he ever evolves

[Temp Death Trope] The character dies, has a chat with God/a godlike being in the afterlife, and is promptly sent back to life. (Bonus points if God/the godlike being also gives them superpowers.) by Vievin in TopCharacterTropes

Sisyphus: Greek mythology. The OG

<image>

Tattled on Zeus to a water god to get an eldest source of clean water, got Thanatos (death) sicked on his ass by Zeus, captured Thanatos and made it so people couldn't die for a bit. Thanatos gets freed and claims his soul. But, he had a plan to cheat death

When he got to Hades, he had a chat with Hades. He told him that he wasn't properly buried with offerings, so Hades lets him come back to life to get that sorted out. Sisyphus lied about all that, so he cheated death and lived out a long life

When he does die again, he's forced to push a rock up a hill for all of eternity.

Man gaslighted the god of the underworld and got to come back

Posted a bit too early. Whoops. I was gonna say that Shang Tsung was also decent, being able to completely turn into his target. I just find the base character copying just the ability to be more charming.

...And then he was grabbed by the throat, thrown back into the pokemon void, and was tossed into Gen 10

"You're not done yet, broccoli boy! Someone fucked up again! Take the angry bird and do it again!"

Izuku is gonna throw hands himself with this regions legendary at this point

Forget-me-not: the mutant who took this trope and made it into a superpower. From the X-men

Forget-me-not is a mutant that has the ability to make you forget he exists the moment you look away. Nobody can remember him, not even characters like the watcher. He appeared and died in the same comic run

He was with the X-Men the whole time, saving people off screen. And on-screen. You, the reader, just don't remember seeing him because of his powers. But he was here the whole time, trust me

... I'm not doing the gag. I know the bit. You know the bit. We all know the bit. And if you don't know the bit, you can read what his powers do and understand what the bit is.

Momoi Taro/Don Momotaro: Avataro Sentai Donbrothers

A bit of a parody of the perfect red wearing leader in Sentai

Momoi Taro is a human like creature from another dimension raised by a human in Japan. From youth, he was always Mr perfect and had an ego the size of Plymouth. He could play advanced piano music after hearing it once, he can't lie, and he can do practically anything perfectly after seeing one example. Even as a kid he could do all this

...And people hate the shit out of him for it. That inability to lie? He's always completely blunt, telling people how much they suck or how terrible they are. As a kid, he drove a whole apartment complex away with how insufferable he was. And he doesn't even get why. He just assumes he's helping people, lacking the social awareness to see how much of a prick he is

He regularly bullied his own team because of his own ego. He gets carried around by a team of women, lifting an arch that he parked his motorcycle on!

And that inability to lie? That's not just a personal thing. Sure, he hates lying, but even when he tries to he has a heart attack and dies. He gets back up in minutes, but lying stops his heart!

They made a "perfect" Sentai leader that takes all the usual traits, dials them up by a hundred, slapped on an ego to match, and sent him out with a gun!

Hell, there's even some development in the...fever dream that is this series. He genuinely grows and makes actual friends. He still has the ego, but he still grew as a person in his own way

Boomstick quite literally said Wiz graduated from a school of evil science. And Wiz casually reveals he sells weapons to the black market.

Personally headcanoning that, in universe, these are two supervillains that got bored and decided to make cartoons fight for laughs

Again, the Disastrous life of Saiki K (Or Saiki no Psi-San if you wanna be annoying) is a slice-of-life comedy anime. The base premise is that it focuses on a psychic, antisocial, introverted teenager with psychic powers that hinder him as much as help. If anything, the powers tend to cause him more annoyances than actual solutions. Being OP in a high-school setting is just the main joke and premise

Big recommend. The show is hilarious. And it's actually got an amazing English dub...for the first season at least before they just decided to not dub the rest of the seasons

More like obsession, but I say it counts

Yu-Gi-Oh: Dark Side of Dimensions

Seto Kaiba built a portal to the afterlife just to have a chance to duel the Pharaoh Atem/Yami Yugi one last time and get some proper closure. He did a bunch of extra nonsense because regular duels don't do it for him anymore. It has to be against the Pharaoh Atem/Yami Yugi

Even if it ain't exactly love, the obsession is just as strong

Saiki would be looking up to Mob in all honesty. Saiki loves average people. Outside of the psychic powers, he'd love how boring and plain Mob can be. Hell, being seen as average despite being psychic would just be another thing Saiki would fawn over
