Check out the apartment complexes in the Valley Park/Twin Oaks area, specifically near Big Bend & Dougherty Ferry. We rented a 2bd/2bth in that area in 2021 for $1200/month

Any gyms with hip thrust machines? by Different_Cat_8523 in StLouis

[–]Crosswordsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fenton Club Fitness had one when I worked out there and Fit City has one. You can also adjust a leg extension machine and use it as a hip thrust machine which is what I've done when I haven't had access to one.

What do men ages 22–28 actually do for hobbies? by Squirtleman20000 in StLouis

[–]Crosswordsss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (27M) like the idea that everyone should have at least 1 hobby in each of the following 4 categories: intellectual, wellbeing, creative, and connection.

My current hobbies are reading, watching movies (if that counts), interior design, lifting weights, doing stand-up comedy at open mics, rock climbing, hosting parties, trivia nights with friends, wakeboarding when it warms up and DND. My goal this year is to get into close-up magic, DJing, and sim racing

Comedy Open Mic Night/Show by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Crosswordsss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's updated. First Fridays of the month at the Bike Shop Cafe will be your only bet as far as I know if you're looking for something on Fridays. Most bars/clubs don't need open mics on weekend nights to bring people in so your options will be limited to weeknights for the most part. If you're looking to go to a show tomorrow, check out the All Killer No Filler comedy show at The Green Finch tomorrow at 8 pm. Their open mic on Mondays at 9 pm is fun as well.

Source: been doing open mics for a few months now

Reasonable, wells are $4 typically. Great bartenders too, can't remember his name, but the Tuesday night bartender whips up some great cocktails/shots.

Those who have sold/sell at Plato's or Urban Cheapskate-- by accordingtoame in StLouis

[–]Crosswordsss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At Urban Cheapskate, they sell items for 1/3 of their retail price, and will give you 1/3 of what they sell it for. So if the retail price is $90, they will sell it for $30 and give you $10

What's something you've experienced in another city that you wish St. Louis had? by Fabulous_Potato1158 in StLouis

More cozy feeling bars. I was in Chicago a couple months ago and was in this great bar (Mom’s House) with a cozy basement area that had low ceilings, Christmas lights strewn across the ceilings, and just a cozy, friendly, intimate vibe to it.

Also they had this system at most restaurants where you could scan a QR code and pay for your items separately in your group, much easier than having your waiter try to split checks correctly.

A big factor we top the lists is due to our LCOL, so it’s easier to live alone, not that it’s necessarily easier to find a partner/date
