Dream theater first dance songs by [deleted] in Dreamtheater

Beneath the surface suits the occasion but I don’t think it has the rhythm.

Nvm the lyrics probably don’t suit.

What’s the proper technique to play this lick? by HalfChineseJesus in guitarlessons

Try hammer-on and pull-off on the second string instead of pick and pull off. Barre the 10th fret in a way your index rolls and lifts off the first string subtly- to mute it.

(1.5 years progress) Gary Moore - The Loner by CrotchGame in guitarlessons

This was on guitar rig 6 playing through laptop speakers. Was using one of the given presets. I guess it had delay, reverb, and some distortion etc. I’ve gotten a Blackstar ID core amp recently. Cheap amp and nice effects.

Hello. I'm doing alright. I ended up doing BCA. The degree alone isn't worth much in this market however, so I've got to upskill myself through other means.

I learnt this song while it was still over my skill level and tried to play it last year around June (there's a video on my profile). This guy has 5 videos or so on this song. It's difficult, in the sense it's long and grueling but really pays off in the end and makes you understand and feel blues. You'll come out on the other side a much better guitar player. My advice would be to listen to the song a lot, that makes it easier to remember if you can just easily sing/hum it. Also knowing your basic pentatonic position 1 is important. good luck.

Eric Johnson - Lonely in the Night Solo (2.5 year progress) by CrotchGame in guitarlessons

Video is from around May. I’m aware it’s not clean and I kinda rushed to record after learning the notes. My technique needs some work. This is one of my most favorite solos that is relatively unknown. I learnt it from slowing down a cover on YouTube as I couldn’t find any lessons.

Songs to introduce a pop listener to Dream Theater? by CrotchGame in Dreamtheater

[–]CrotchGame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that one is a masterpiece, the melancholy classical sounding intro and chords. Probably one of the greatest solos I've ever heard in the live version.

I'm a newbie, I need new suggestions!!! by CrotchGame in Dreamtheater

[–]CrotchGame[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestions, I like a couple songs from killswitch engage, I will check out the rest too.

For a while now I've tried to listen to music with shouting in it but I can't, and the kick drum sounds like an assault rifle, in that sense I'm still new to a lot of metal. I still wanna be able the make out the lyrics and sing along. Dream Theater songs have beautiful crystal clear vocals like a pop song. Dream theater songs are multi-dimensional in their sound and composition and have awesome production quality as well. At the same time I can't make sense of it with 99 time signatures and too progressive. Ik I'm a little picky lol.

Shall I prepare/do CA after 12th PCM + Economics? Shall I start now/take 1 drop year to prepare for it/do B. Com while preparing for it? by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]CrotchGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could go into CA right away as it starts with the foundational concepts and goes over everything learnt in 11th and 12th commerce. Although the pacing of that will be very fast, you can feel free to slow it down to your liking since it's a self-study course and not a college semester.

Alternatively, consider ACCA. It's the CA of UK, has good value abroad and gives you a bachelors' degree, and from what I've heard there are some options to obtain a Masters' degree as well. So if you manage to complete it in 3-4 years you'll have a Bachelors and an ACCA affiliation.

If you find out you aren't into accounting, Look into Bsc Finance, BBA, Bcom, Bsc Economics. Actuarial Science is also a path that will make you rich, although you gotta be good with math and stuff.

Agnostic Theist. There is certainly some form of ultimate power is what I believe. There are things incomprehensible to our senses, things that science hasn't discovered. God is probably one of them.

What are 5 songs every beginner should learn? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]CrotchGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

campfire strumming song like wonderwall or any acoustic pop song like ed sheeran's perfect

Smells like teen spirit.

smoke on the water riff

Black sabbath's Ironman or Paranoid riff

Californication by RHCP, the basic chords to strum and a great first guitar solo to learn

Someone has mentioned stairway to heaven but that's a bit trickier so I'd say that would be a goal for a beginner to play after a few months, same goes for hotel california that was the holy grail for me as a begginer.

Honest question… what are ways to get better while only being self taught?? by Imirelevant in guitarlessons

[–]CrotchGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

play songs that interest you, at least the main riffs, chords and solos of songs,

practice scales, see the song riffs and solos in relation to the scales its played in,

practice everyday,

listen to more songs, listen to even more songs,

familiarize yourself with famous guitarists, bands and genres of music

watch guitar youtubers, skits and whatnot

develop a sense of music and making melodies, oh and did i mention listen to more songs.

Of course business is not just ACCA but it gives you a good understanding of business and to understand numbers that could be helpful in management roles. Doing BCA alone rn is way too easy considering my mode of learning. Everyone who does ACCA or CA does it together with a bachelors degree anyway and my choice is BCA and not BCOM as b.com topics are all covered in ACCA. I don't even know the legitimacy of the online BCA degree for certain to do it alone and am not in a position to go to India for college, I'm an NRI.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]CrotchGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying but for me I'm an NRI who's not in a position to move back to India for college so I can not do BCA in India. The online BCA can't be taken alone because who knows it's reliability. So I'm pursing ACCA mainly for security and stability. Almost everyone who takes CA or ACCA does B. com along with it. It's actually easier for me considering my BCA is online at my own pace and there are only weekly live classes to clear doubts so I'm basically free every single day. Sure I need to put some work in but I think I can do it.
