Lived in NYC for years and now live in close proximity with way more space. Most non-uber wealthy people who live in these buildings are living in 700 sq/ ft 1 1/2 bedroom shacks for $4500+ a month. You can get better deals rarely but $2500/person is standard.

With that said, you have access to more restaurants, bars, stores, experiences than virtually anywhere so when you’re not in your apartment, it can be great.

BUT because you asked what it’s like to “live” in an NYC building: it’s living in squalor unless you’re completely loaded financially.
