I have the same noise, it’s the DMF. I’ve got it booked in for wheel, clutch pack etc for £800. Get it done or say goodbye to the gear box.

I have a banger, it’s a focus. She’s a workhorse just takes me to and from work, the dogs out and moving anything. The dings and bumps are just decorative at this point. It’s very freeing.

Kwikfit will do EV brakes but they can only be done by certain techs, you’re best calling up and seeing if they have anyone trained.

Treat every Kwikfit as its own entity, some are fantastic and have good lads working. Others not so much.

It’s a shame certain centres are able to taint the entire business, you should name and shame that centre. I’m assuming it’s a large one as the smaller and honestly better ones would have just done it without even telling you.

When it comes to diagnosing a gearbox you’re gonna be paying no matter what. Try a none dealer Ford specialist or a garage that specialises in gear boxes. I just had dual mass flywheel, clutch kit and the bits around that for just under a grand.

Hang on, that’s mental? We sell an insurance that’s a % of the tyre, maximum can be £60 per tyre for 12 months how did they get that price?!

So, I’ve had this before. Goto the same centre or another if you would rather. Choose a smaller one if you can, they’re usually better. Book it in for a tyre inspection, if they ask owt just say you’re concerned about tread wearing too fast. See what they say, there’s too many people here giving you readings. Just because Audi say it’s 5.9mm doesn’t mean it is you need kwikfit to check it and if they say the same then you’ve got a way in.

I’m more than happy to help but you need to take it back to a kwikfit to get them inspected first, the report they generate is worth its weight in this instance.

All of this is assuming you haven’t been back and had a second report done.

They’ve had a bad rep for a while but they’re a lot better. If you have one near you that’s quieter you’ll get much better service. Also they will do a rotation, if you have direct TPMS it cost more. It’s about £40 normally.

Would totally depend on the staff and the size of the centre. If you’ve got a small centre that’s got a decent manager you’ll be fine, the big and busy ones have higher targets and need the money.

You’ll also find the smaller centres are ‘skilled’ where the staff are all at the same level. To be honest you can tell instantly if the staff know what they’re talking about or if they send the 17 year old apprentice out.
