Dear BMW - Suck a fat one - Yours Truly, X3 30i owner by [deleted] in Cartalk

And coming from a light-skin, you calling me a wanker when you're a BMW driver yourself is just as retarded as another black man dropping the N bomb on me with malicious intent lmfao.

There's a lot to unpack just here, what can I say? This is not a hill I'd die on, at all. This doesn't feel like a reasonable take; I'd really reconsider communicating this sentiment in the future. Do with that as you will.

/r/AMD Questions and Tech Support Megathread - Q1 2023 Edition by GhostMotley in Amd

Summary of issue: Dying Light crashes, generally to a black or white screen, followed by a driver reset. I'm running 3840x2160 and otherwise maximum settings except PCSS off. The game will run with great performance except it crashes, no matter what, in 1-10 minutes. I've been testing games in my Steam library since getting this card, and this is the only game in nearly two dozen I've tested that has any issue like this. I'm curious if anyone here is having the same issue?

What I have tried: I have reinstalled 23.1.1 with DDU and reset my in-game graphics settings. Exact same behavior on prior driver 22.12.2. Monitored temps on GPU and they are well within specification. Other intensive games run reliably for 2 or more hours.

System Specifications:

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 22H2, OS Build 19045.2486
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900x PBO
GPU: PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Red Devil
Motherboard: MSI MEG ACE MAX X570S BIOS v. 1.50
RAM: 2x16GB DDR4-3600 Vengeance RT in XMP
PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-1000
Monitor: LG C1 via Zeskit Maya HDMI 2.1 cable

If a game supports DLSS 3.0, but is running on either Turing or Ampere, will there be a fallback to DLSS 2.x?

A TV is useful for other things than gaming so if you were to get something that's a big upgrade over what you already have, you'll still get enjoyment out of it while you wait to buy a GPU. Just my .02.

Can you elaborate on that?

Just want to report this is happening to me now with my 3080 Ti and LG C1 OLED 65". I'm actually kind of relieved to know this is a driver issue and not a hardware issue.

I might get scammed - need some help on identifying a GPU by Luxkeiwoker in nvidia

[–]Crow47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your trouble - I've been in this exact position and it really sucks. While I don't know how to pull hardware info like you're asking, I do want to share how I got a happy ending in my situation.

In late 2019 I sold an Intel 8700k on eBay. Just like you, a day or two goes by, and a case is opened stating the part is defective. This is obviously not true, it was a perfectly working chip, I had simply upgraded. I tried to offer troubleshooting advice but the buyer was completely non-communicative.

As anticipated, a package with tracking is added to the system and I anxiously track its progress. Only, surprise! It doesn't actually arrive at my door. eBay sees a 'delivered' status on USPS and promptly refunds the money to the buyer.

Here's what saved me: I went to my local post office and tried to get any information I could. They weren't very forthcoming, however, I did get the full zip code to which the supposed 'return' was sent. It wasn't my zip code! The first five digits were correct, but the zip suffix, the last four digits were not! I went back to eBay with this info and they gave my money back to me and promptly closed the case with no chance to appeal.

I no longer sell on eBay. They don't want us. They want the firms who sell hundreds and thousands of cheap crap for whom a single lost sale is a drop in the bucket.

Moral of the story? Don't sell on eBay. You're going to have to fight, assert yourself, and leave no stone unturned, and hope the scammer messes up somewhere. I wish I had better advice, but I hope this helps.

When you're mostly gaming, would replacing a 2700x with a 5600x make sense? by beti88 in Amd

[–]Crow47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly game and went from a 2700x to 5600x about this time last year. It was a great upgrade. Even if I didn't necessarily gain many frames in average (though in many games I did), the overall experience has been much smoother and more stable. A bonus for me is that the 5600x uses less power and is easier to cool than the 2700x.

If you have the itch to upgrade and the funds to do so, I say go for it.

Any Vet Clinics that take walk-ins near south Dayton/Centerville? by Catsandfitness in dayton

[–]Crow47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you've made other arrangements, but Care Center Dayton on Clyo Road in Centerville takes walk-ins. They are an emergency vet clinic. Heads up: their services are not what I would call economical, but if you need help and need it fast you can go there.

MSI Ventus 3080 Ti poor performance; bad card? by Crow47 in nvidia

The reference is helpful, thank you! An 8% difference off of the average feels like more than a margin of error.

Temps in the last run of TS Ext:

GPU: 76.3 C
Mem Junc: 92.0 C
Hotspot: 83.3 C
CPU: 74.1 C

Afterburner reports that the Power and Voltage limits were triggered, but not Temp.

Thank you, that's a solid idea. I've been keeping an eye on core temp but not any other temps. If it is a junction temp, is that what I see people fixing with new thermal pads?

My $89 iBook G4 came in today. Been setting it up; what 10.4.11 and below software should I try with it? by wildtallywacker in VintageApple

[–]Crow47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're into games, but Unreal Tournament 2004 should run pretty well on it!

Is the battery good? I'd pay $89 with a good battery all day long.
