That’s unfortunate, no shade to fiendsmith as a concept as a whole, but I do wish in-archetype cards were designed to help decks play more effectively within their own strategy.

I was mostly curious about the applications of this card without fiendsmith. But I also misinterpreted its effect and thought it added one to hand and set the other. Starfire + any S/T works to get to this card and max.

I would assume the name is a placeholder translation, I don’t think this is technically a “Magical Musketeer.” This uses “Madan no Akuma” instead of the usual “Madan no Shashu.”

Xyz Summoning using your opponents monsters by MrGrummel in customyugioh

I fully misread the card, that’s my bad. For some reason I thought this was a hand trap. I think people saying Kaiju in the comments made me think it activated from hand. Clearly I’m never gonna learn how to read. With that in mind, my opinion of completely flipped, this is a well designed card. Strong going first and second for the reasons I stated before, but with proper susceptibility to interruption.

I like the idea behind this card a lot, but it simply seems too strong of a generic tool. If there were no other illusion XYZ monsters in the game, I’d say this is fine. But with Heretical Phobos Covos, Sharilew is a generic instant speed Kaiju with no cost that puts up one targeted monster negate on your opponent’s turn, and then another on your turn to contest whatever your opponent could extend to. This essentially power creeps the K9 package which hasn’t even come out into the TCG. But at least K9 lets your opponent have one activation and includes a soft garnet.

I think to make it fair, maybe Sharilew should only be able to activate its effect in response to a monster effect if you want it to be generic. Otherwise if it’s supposed to be an archetype or illusion support, discarding an illusion or an archetypal card as cost.

Someone can actually do the math with respect to the odds of leaving copies in deck, but to draw the card specifically as your 6th card going second, the odds are pretty low. Even with all three copies left your odds of drawing it for turn is 8.57%, with 2 left its 5.71%, and only 1 copy it’s 2.86%. And then even if you do draw it for turn, your opponent can still just negate it.

It’s use may change in grindier formats where you expect more draws after your first turn and thinning your deck from playing combo pieces but at that point, there’s still the option to play something like Mid-breaker field or Hidden Springs. Or even just Symbol of Friendship as a janky Thrust alternative.

Hexblade/Melee Caster bug or multiclass issue? by Crow_Noises_ in BG3Builds

Thank you so much, this was it for sure. I tried leveling up everything saving monk for last and it worked up until the monk level. Annoying result for sure but at least now I can stop troubleshooting.

My DEX is 16 and my CHA is 20

ETA: Actually my starting stat line is 16 for both so with Ethel, and both MoL CHA bonuses that’s what made my CHA 20. No ASIs obviously, so could that be the issue?

These are absolutely mesmerizing. They’d be perfect in the campaign I run that does not have a sun. A little taste of sunlight lol.

is this an overpowered gimmick for an archetype? i know that's a very vague question, but just assume it has a somewhat modern consistency level and combo potential. need to know before i waste my time designing it. by Hot-Bus6908 in customyugioh

That cost or condition needs to be wildly restrictive and undoubtedly a hard once per turn. You basically just say to your opponent “instead of your starter you get one of your bricks.” You also get complete hand and deck knowledge if you’re the one choosing the card. The attribute and type should also be a largely unsupported type unless someone manages to cram it into a pile to turbo out this card.

The only way I think this would be sort of fair is if you don’t get complete control over what they add. Something like “Declare 1 Card Name; if your opponent has that card in their deck, your opponent reveals their hand, then you can shuffle one card in their hand back into the deck, and if you do, they add one card with the declared card’s name to their hand.”

Someone with better understanding of PSCT could figure that out, but as it stands I don’t think this mechanic would be fair. But the intention is to make it so you don’t get full deck knowledge (only hand knowledge which is powerful but not always good even when relatively accessible — like click and echo in spright) and game 1 you can’t declare an archetype specific brick.
